Maria B is one of the leading Pakistani fashion designers whose successful clothing brand is thriving globally through international collaborations. As a financially independent businesswoman, she continues to shape and elevate Pakistan’s fashion industry. Maria is also known for being a vocal Pakistani celebrity who raises common concerns.

Today, Maria B posted a thought-provoking video on her Instagram featuring interviews with orphans. Most of these children featured in the video shared that after their parents divorced, their mothers left them at the orphanage. The children explained that their mothers chose to remarry and moved on with their new partners, while neither parent visited or took care of them afterward. Following this, Maria B called out women who seek second marriages for financial security and abandon their children in the process.

Maria B said, “You all remember Waseem Abbas, right? That orphan child who was crushed. But do you know he wasn’t actually an orphan; his mother was alive? When a woman gets a divorce and then remarries, it is often a requirement from the family that she cannot keep the child. What kind of men has Pakistan produced? Look at the root cause here: the father who gave the divorce didn’t keep the child; the maternal grandfather whose daughter returned didn’t keep the child; the maternal uncles, paternal uncles didn’t accept her children. Providing for children is the biggest duty of a man, of the men of the household. Where are all those men? Leaving these children in orphanages so that predators can prey on them. They face rape, murder, whatever happens—what do we know? Pakistani families, fear God. These are children. People leave them in orphanages even though their parents and families are alive, and then no one even checks on them.”

She further added, “I know or is difficult to survive for the women who are single mothers but if you don’t have any skills, how will you earn, right? Curses on such a man and his family who cannot keep your child. Women should put their trust in Allah, should work hard and earn their own money. These children will stand by you in your old age in a way that those men and those families never will. I don’t know what will happen to upcoming generations of Pakistan.” Here is the link to the video:
Social media users are agreeing with Maria B and appreciating her for raising awareness among the women and calling out men. Some divorced women shared they chose not to remarry for the sake of their children. Read the comments:
