Mawra Hocane has now opened up about the technique behind her believable crying in an interview with Fuchsia Magazine.

Speaking about how she masters crying scenes, Mawra Hocane said “Initially, it was difficult for me to cry because when you are new, you are unaware of how to channel your emotions. I also think that in the beginning, I couldn’t perform crying scenes perfectly, although I tried to be as honest as I could. With time, I learned the art. For me, backstory is very important for a character as it helps you to perform. I never took my scripts lightly; I always had a pure intention, which helped me. In my first crying scene, I was scolded by the director which helped me in crying. Also, I was young, so it was easy for me to cry at a director’s arrogant tone. Now, I am well trained by my directors, I understood what it is like to let the pain pass through you, and that really changed everything about my career. Now, I try to develop a thought or a backstory for myself after which I relate to that character. Also, when I am performing, I try to be honest in that moment—I stay true to that emotion. Sometimes it’s really intense; it affects me and takes a toll on me. At times, I even worry about my mental health, but now I can easily come out of the pain I portray on camera.”
