Mehmood Akhtar is a versatile Pakistani television and film actor known for his remarkable and memorable performances in numerous hit PTV dramas. His notable works include Tum Kon Piya, Mere Meharbaan, Gul-e-Rana, Be Zuban, Hawaain, Aasmano Pe Likha, Kashkol, and many others. Mehmood Akhtar is currently settled in Canada. He left Pakistan years ago but visits his homeland whenever he misses it. He is currently staying in Karachi.
Recently, senior PTV actor Mehmood Akhtar appeared on Samaa TV’s talk show Gup Shab, hosted by Vasay Chaudhary. During the show, he opened up about how Pakistani dramas are being ruined by Western agendas and fundings.
Speaking on the matter, Mehmood Akhtar said, “I have witnessed all the transitions, in almost everything, but back then, our dramas were truly good. We had well-written stories. Then came the digests (story magazines), which ruined our stories. Now, there’s a big scam in our society— budgets are being funded by the West, which is destroying our society. They send money for specific kinds of stories to be produced, agenda based scripts are being written and no one is paying heed to it, and the drama makers and viewers are happy with it.
