He first drew widespread criticism during a tense, televised face-off with actress Veena Malik. His standing collapsed further after his highly controversial hotel meeting with social media star Qandeel Baloch. Qavi was later criticized for his attention-seeking antics, including a public marriage proposal to Indian celebrity Rakhi Sawant. He also drew widespread ridicule by claiming that he was secretly married to Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor. Not only that, Mufti Qavi also defended the alleged live-in relationship between Momina Iqbal and Saqib Chadhar.
Recently, Mufti Abdul Qavi appeared on Fariha Farrukh’s podcast, where he admitted that he is a big-time flirt.
Replying to Fariha Farrukh’s question, “Are you a tharki/flirt?” Mufti Abdul Qavi said, “I am a tharki. A thousand times, I admit that I am a flirt. My heart is enlightened. I am an open-minded person with a sweet heart. I am eloquent, and I am wise. When I met you, I pointed out three things about you. Were they true? That is what I call being a tharki.
