Myra Lakdawala, a Pakistani student at The University of the Pacific has set a new record for Pakistan by breaking a 5-year-old record set by Olympic runner Sumaira Zahoor.
At the Johnny Mathis Invitational in San Francisco, Lakdawala set this record.
Despite not being able to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, she still set a new record in Pakistan with 19 minutes and 3.01 seconds on the clock for the five-kilometer race.
This has placed her at the 20th place out of 33 participants from universities and colleges all over Northern California. She is also the first Pakistani woman to represent her country in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
We are very proud of this young woman and we wish more Pakistani women keep making us proud.
