Government Awards always meant respect and eminence for all the recipients in the country. Artists like all other professionals get recognized each year and then get awarded for their contributions. Like Pakistan is going through a lot of instability in the past few years and the public has questioned everything, these awards have come under a lot of scrutiny. Mehwish hayat and sajal Aly both received Tamgha e Imtiaz and many in the public were not happy with their achievements.
Nabeel Zafar is a veteran of the industry now. He became super famous with his drama Dhuwan and later on his sitcom Bulbulay has been successfully running for over 15 years now and people still love the humour. He has largely kept away from serious roles though he shined in Sar e Rah. He was a guest on FHM Podcast and had an interesting comment about awards these days.
He said that if you have to justify yourself after winning an award, you should not have gotten it in the first place. He talked about all the awards for artists and shared that he was once on the jury for an award show and as he asked questions, he was not invited the next year.
