Ali Raza is a new entrant in the drama industry. He has done a few dramas and with Iqtidar he has risen to the very top of the lead actors cadre. He is now signing projects in the lead and his fans love his screen presence. His recent discussion with Nadia Khan has however raised questions and started a debate about disrespecting regional accents.
Nadia Khan started questioning the actor’s “good” Urdu accent despite being from Lahore. She asked him why he does not have a Punjabi touch in his Urdu. Ali Raza was quick to respond and said he never had a Lahori accent and you will have it if you sit with cart sellers. If you mingle with educated crowd, you will ever have such an accent.

A regional accent is not an insult.” Another added, “Stereotyping a region and saying Lahoris have bad Urdu is just wrong.” One said, “There is nothing wrong with having a Punjabi accent.
