Pakistan Idol was an extension of the American Idol franchise. The first season was held a decade ago and the show was brought back on a grand scale a decade later. With big names in the judges panel and big channels selected for broadcasting it, this seemed like a venture which was definitely going to succeed. But the show has been suspended now.
Though the audience of Pakistan Idol was told that the show is not airing because of war and economic problems, the reality is now coming out. With Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash and Bilal Maqsood as judges, the sudden suspension did look suspicious. That is when photographer Ahsan Qureshy filed a lawsuit against the show for non-payments.
Journalist Naeem has now exposed the reality. According to him, this is not Pakistan Idol but Fraud Idol. All the vendors on the show from graphics to lights, none were paid. The star judges and artists including Rahat and Fawad have a total of around 50 crores stuck in payments and everyone is being kept shut and they are being approached by the company who made the show through separate channels so they do not unite. The show has become a disgrace and therefore the finale was neither shot nor aired. They have even approached Ahsan Qureshy to take his payment and withdraw the case.
