Recently, renowned Indian lyricist Sameer Anjaan appeared as a guest on The Lallantop Show, where he shared an emotional anecdote about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s dedication while recording the song Dulhe Ka Sehra.
Speaking about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Sameer Anjaan said, “There was a time when we used to listen to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Madhan Mohan, and others before starting our music sessions to find inspiration. Luckily, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab visited Mumbai, and we got the chance to meet him. Nadeem expressed his biggest wish, saying, ‘It would be an honor if you sang a song for our film.’ Nusrat Sahab replied, ‘First, I’ll listen to the song. If I like it, I’ll sing it.’ He loved the composition and lyrics agreed to record it, asking us to book a studio. He started singing it but every time he sang the line ‘Main Teri Baahon Ke Jhoolay Mein Pali, Babul’, he used to cry. He literally cried over a hundred times while recording that particular line. We asked him to take a break, but he said, ‘If I sing it today, all my emotions will be in it.’ He later told us that he was thinking of his daughter while singing those emotional lines.”
