Lately, Humayun Saeed made an appearance on The Knock Knock Show, hosted by Mohib Mirza. In the show, he discussed the process of getting selected for The Crown. He mentioned that he underwent multiple auditions for The Crown and was chosen from among eight actors from India and Pakistan.
Talking about it, he said, “I got The Crown by luck. Yes, I gave auditions for the role because it is their process. They first see the work of an actor and then select him/her. Initially, I was shocked to get the character of Dr Hasnat, I was already watching The Crown. I never thought about getting it. When I got the character, I got extremely happy. I was a bit worried when they asked for the auditions. I was given two scenes, then my agent told me, ‘there are 8 actors from India and Pakistan so be prepared with auditions’. First, I made a place into the top five, then I made the place in to top two. I took help from Nadir, he taught me things and approved my audition. I also gave an audition with Elizabeth Debicki. I got excited but still they didn’t call me, they called me when I stopped waiting for it, I stopped it”.

I will accept that our drama is good if Koreans start watching it, if Americans start watching it. I will accept that our drama is good if the international audience begins watching it despite the language barriers, similar to how Turkish and Korean dramas are being watched.”

First Project & Difficulties
Talking about getting his first project, he said that he got a short film which was directed by Sohail Javed, followed by Green Entertainment’s Grey but these two projects didn’t give him the break he was looking for. Talking about Ishq Murshid, Faraz said, “We were doing a drama at the Arts Council, we invited all the known media figures and Geeti from Momal Productions was one among them. A group of boys then requested me to arrange an audition with Geeti which I did for them. I wasn’t interested in giving audition because I shifted to Malaysia because of my wife’s job. We went and gave auditions, I also gave audition on my friend’s request. After a month, I got the call. I didn’t go to Malaysia after I heard Farooq Rind’s name because I knew him well. I gave multiple auditions for Ishq Murshid until I fetched it, it was a difficult process because I was replaced after two days of shooting because of my hair. They were particular about their imagination for Faraz. They wanted proper curly hair and I had wavy hair. Well, Farooq rind took a stand for me but still I changed my appearance and made a look which they wanted. Once the shooting started, Farooq rind came to me and said, ‘this is your place, grab it’.
Relationship With Bilal Abbas
Talking about his camaraderie with actor Bilal Abbas, he said, “Bilal never made me feel that he is super star. He’s easy to work with, he is so helpful, especially, if he knows that an actor is doing a great job and the character is good, then he wants the actor to be given ample screen time. Bilal is a secure actor. He is a true star. Now, he’s a great friend to me as well.
