Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the Pakistan-administered side of Kashmir, has been facing unrest for months following the 2026 elections. Two days ago, elections were held across the region, but protests erupted after many people alleged election rigging and demanded protection of what they described as their democratic mandate. The situation escalated after clashes broke out between security forces and demonstrators. Local residents and activists have claimed that police and authorities used force against protesters, with reports circulating on social media alleging that more than 28 Kashmiris have been killed.
Across Pakistan, particularly among Gen Z digital creators and influencers, many have been sharing videos and updates reportedly sent by people on the ground in Kashmir. Several Pakistani actors have also spoken out in support of the affected people.
Celebrities including Mishi Khan, Madiha Rizvi, Sabeena Farooq, , Durrefishan Saleem, Hania Aamir,Kinza Hashmi, Samar Jafri, Nameer Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Ali Raza, Aiman Khan, Minal Khan, Ahsan Mohsin Ikram, Nadia Afghan, Hina Afridi, Hira Khan, Komal Meer, and Tamkenat have publicly condemned the situation. Many of them have reposted videos and shared updates about the reported death toll, which has continued to rise according to claims circulating online.

At the same time, many leading Pakistani actors have remained publicly silent on the issue, including Mahira Khan, Wahaj Ali, Maya Ali, Yumna Zaidi, Iqra Aziz, Danish Taimoor, Feroze Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Fawad Khan, Bilal Abbas Khan, Dananeer, Nadia Khan, Atiqa Odho, Marina Khan, Shaista Lodhi, Aijaz Aslam, and Bushra Ansari.
Previously, several Pakistani A-list celebrities were seen actively speaking about protests at Jantar Mantar in India. However, many social media users are now questioning why some of these celebrities have not commented publicly on the situation in Kashmir. Others have instead been posting videos about unrelated topics, including actor Muhammad Ahmed, while remaining silent on the ongoing unrest in AJK.
