Pakistan is going through an epidemic of violence against women. There are two camps in the country with one lead by Aurat Mrach who aaccording to them are working for betterment of women and the other by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and other celebrities who according to them are safeguarding rights given by Islam to women. The reality however is starkly different as women from all stratas of society are being beaten, raped and brutalized without any consequences for the perpetrators. Even a victim from an influential family Noor Mukaddam did not get justice.
Another 20 year old today got brutalized and killed by her own husband in Multan. A 20 year old Sania Zehra was a mother to two sons aged 3 and 1 and had a third baby on the way as she was again five months pregnant. Sania was raped, tortured, her bones were broken, her jaw broken and her tongue was cut off. Her in-laws tried to pass it off as a suicide and her husband Syed Ali Raza Bukhari has fled away. A young woman from an influential family had no support available as she was killed at just the age of 20. Here is what went down:
