Parwarish is a drama that has dealt with a variety of topics. Parenting challenges, generation gap, professional unacceptability, drugs among youngsters and self-harm are some of the topics that were touched upon in the show. Another major topic that was shown on television was teenage attraction and romance which is pretty common in our society now.
Wali and Maya played by Samar Jafri and Aina Asif and their love story has been a key track of Parwarish. They are shown as two students who fall for each other and they have gone to extremes to be together. The fans of these two have loved to watch them together again after Mayi Ri. But there has been a lot of criticism as well on showing such young kids indulging in love and affairs.
Parwarish director Syed Meesam Naqvi spoke about this and gave his point of view on why he wanted to show this track on screens. He said it is a taboo in our society to discuss relationships. We are not able to accept that kids are having affairs at the age of 15-16. He added he is not saying it is right. He just wanted to show that it is happening.
He went on to share that your child generally hides it from you and kids are having affairs and don’t tell parents. He wanted to show if something like this is happening then we need to show how parents should react in this situation. In spite of threats and negative consequences of those threats like suicides and abandonment, he wanted to show how parents can positively tackle this. He used Maya and Wali’s track to show this:
