Rabia Abid Ali is a senior Pakistani television actor who is admired for her brilliant performances in hit TV dramas. Nowadays, Rabia Abid Ali actively posts poetry and motivational videos on her official Instagram account. She recently opened up about the negative impacts of social media on people’s lives.
Talking about it, she said, “After widespread social media and mobile access, I am noticing that we are spreading negativity everywhere. There are only a few people who engage in positive commenting. We have decided that we will point out others in a negative manner, do leg-pulling, and even earn through it. Why do we forget that these things will come back to us, and we will have to repay? Karma will hit us for our wrongdoing. Don’t we have anything positive and noble to talk about—anything that can bring positivity to others? Or can’t we teach ourselves to be positive towards others?”
Rabia Abid Ali further added, “Social media is a very useful tool through which we can educate our generation, but unfortunately, poets, politicians, and professionals are spreading negativity through it. They are enjoying it and earning as well. It is heinous to dig into others’ secrets. I am not a religious scholar or a pious woman, but the Quran says not to be inquisitive about others. Then why do we do that? If we come to know someone’s secrets or dark side, we spread it like wildfire.”
