Nowadays, she is receiving praise for her role as Bakhtawar in Green Entertainment’s famous drama serial Duniyapur. Saima Qureshi is a divorced woman who raised her son alone.
Recently, she appeared on the FHM Podcast, hosted by Adnan Faisal. Saima Qureshi supported the concept of second marriage in an Islamic society.
Saima Qureshi said, “Blessings and prosperity come through men’s earnings. It is women’s nature to mention about her financial independence if she is earning for the family, so men should be the primary earners in an Islamic society. Also, men do not need their wife’s permission for a second marriage because there is no such clause in the Quran. If men are inclined toward extramarital affairs, they should opt for a second marriage, as Islam permits it. If a man marries for the second time, his wife may feel bad for a few days, but eventually, it will become normal. Therefore, second marriages should be encouraged in Islamic societies instead of extramarital affairs. Here is the link to the video:
Many social media users do not agree with Saima Qureshi. They believe that second marriages in Pakistan are viewed negatively because men cannot balance between both families and in Islam, a second marriage is allowed only if a man can do justice to both wives. Social media users said that Saima Qureshi is glorifying the second marriage because she will be practicing the same in future. Many also disliked her statement against women earning. A social media user wrote, “Hazrat Khadija (RA) is a great example of an independent working woman and she is saying that women’s earnings don’t bring prosperity”. However, a few praised Saima Qureshi’s statement, saying, “It takes courage to speak in favor of second marriage.” Here are the comments:
