Heeramandi is a famous Netflix series which has been directed by ace Bollywood film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is Sanjay’s OTT directorial debut. The original Netflix series features a stellar cast that includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, Fardeen Khan, Sharmin Segal, Shekhar Suman and others. Lately, the brilliant team of Heeramandi is giving multiple interviews on various social media and media outlets.
Well, a recent clip of the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is doing rounds from a live session with Lilly Singh during a screening of Heeramandi in Los Angeles in which he has disclosed that he once considered top Pakistani actors for his famous series Heeramandi that was conceived eighteen years ago.
Talking about the casting, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “I had multiple casting options in my mind, the idea has been there for eighteen years, I thought about Rekha Ji and then Kareena and Rani Mukharji, it was a film back then. I then also thought about Mahira Khan, the Pakistani actress and Imran Abbas and Fawad Khan were in my mind at one point of time but now I ended up with this ensemble cast” Here is the link to the video:
