Sarwat Gilani is a talented Pakistani actress known for her powerful roles in both television and film. She has starred in hit dramas like Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat, Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley, Meri Zaat Zarra e Benishan, Zakhm, Mata e Jaan Hai Tu, Mann Piyass and Khasara. Sarwat is also known for her impactful performances in theatre and films like Jawani Phir Nahi Ani. She is married to renowned plastic surgeon and actor Dr. Fahad Mirza. The couple has three children—two sons and a daughter—forming a beautiful family together. A few years ago, Sarwat Gilani and her husband spoke against Feroze Khan after his domestic violence controversy after which he served them with legal notices and also made their contact numbers public.
A few days ago, Sarwat Gilani appeared in a podcast for Nukta Pakistan in which she called out Feroze Khan’s script choices.
Talking about it, she said, “There are many issues that our society is suffering from, and when Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy portrays them, it becomes painful for you. On the other hand, you watch the same things on television happily. There was this actor, Feroze Khan, who is now less seen on television, and who made our contact numbers public — By the way, I was the last one standing at that time along with Mira Sethi and Sharmeen. All his dramas are such that he is either punching or hitting a girl, or talking loudly, and in the end, the girl starts loving him. You are promoting toxicity on national television, but when Sharmeen picks something from society, it becomes problematic for you”
Sarwat Gilani’s statement is receiving severe backlash from Feroze Khan’s fans. Many are saying that she unnecessarily mentioned Feroze Khan out of personal bias. One fan wrote, “Why didn’t she mention Danish Taimoor? Why only Feroze Khan?” Another commented, “Any female actress who wants fame starts talking against Feroze Khan.” Another stated, “End up getting the girl? Has this lady taken some cheap drugs? Khaani, Gule Rana, Ishqiya — all had sad endings.” Another wrote, “What about Sharmeen? Promoting LGBTQ? Get over the Feroze Khan fever. If she had given her husband this much attention, she wouldn’t have had to get married a second time.” A fan commented, “Why are you criticizing him? Speak against the drama writers or those who commission them. He is just an actor. Strange!”
