Afshan Qureshi is a seasoned Pakistani television and film actor who has garnered fame due to her brilliant performance in negative characters. She has appeared in many notable Pakistani dramas including Bheegi Palkain, Baba Jani, Sheher E Malal, Mein Mehru Hun, Umeed, Siraat e Mustaqeem, Sila Aur Jannat and others. Afshan Qureshi’s husband Abid Qureshi was also an actor and they got married after developing friendship during the set of their film. Ace Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi is Afshan Qureshi’s son. Her husband passed away when Faysal was quite young.
Recently, Afshan Qureshi appeared in Madeha Naqvi’s morning show Subh Ka Samaa. In the show, actress opened up about her love marriage.
Talking about it, Afshan Qureshi said, “I was an outsider (someone from outside my husband’s family). We had a love marriage, and since my mother-in-law was unwell, my husband married me in secret and asked me to keep it hidden. However, we did get married in the presence of his brother. We were married for several months, but he didn’t take me to meet his mother. Once I insisted, and then he took me to his home. Initially, my mother-in-law seemed upset with me. She would also correct my Urdu — she was from Lucknow, and I was a Memoni, so my Urdu was quite poor. I used to mispronounce words. I had thought she would only find flaws in me.”
She further added, “I spent 15 days with her, and during that time, she taught me a lot. I realized that although she appeared strict on the outside, she actually had love for me deep down — because I was her son’s wife. She used to cook for me, and there were many small incidents that showed her care for me. My husband used to say, ‘She scolds you, but she loves and cares for you.'”
