In 2015, she married Hasham Riaz Sheikh, and the couple has a beautiful son named Hussain.

Recently, Sharmila Faruqui appeared on Frieha Altaf’s podcast, where she opened up about her acting debut and explained why she did not pursue acting as a professional career.

Talking about it, Sharmila Faruqui said, “I did my first drama when I was in school. I was only 15 at the time and simply wanted to try acting. I was quite plump and chubby back then, and my interest in acting developed during my convent school days, where co-curricular activities played a big role in nurturing it. I asked my father if I could do a drama, and coincidentally, the PTV station was close to our house. My father also knew PTV producer Haider Imam Rizvi, and I was offered a lead role. I only did one drama because acting was never meant to be my career. I didn’t have enough time, as I was still in school. It was Pakistan’s first private production by Abdullah Kadwani, and it was written by Haider Imam Rizvi. The project was very time-consuming, and I couldn’t give it that much time, so one drama was enough for me. However, I would now like to do a short play on a social issue.” She further added that she is currently following Pamaal, which conveys a strong message about emotional abuse. Watch here:
