The music industry and credit wars are something that artists are never able to avoid. One such war took place between ace music producer Shirz Uppal and singer Aima Baig sometime back. Aima Baig has come a long way. She started her career in Mazaaq Raat and later on became one of the top playback singers in Pakistan. She released a song Funkari some time back and she claimed that it was her first solo song which she co-wrote with lyricist Shakeel Sohail and the song was a hit.
Soon after Aima’s statement came out, producer Shiraz Uppal corrected her and said that Aima was lyng and Funkari is a song solely written by him.
Here is what Shiraz said:
Get your facts right lady. Shakeel Sohail passed away 6 months prior to writing this song and the last he co-wrote with me was another single for you named Faraq Faraq. So Funkari was written, composed and produced by me and you just came to sing it that only took 3 hours.
Shirza Uppal was a guest on Bakamal where he clarified this fight. He said that people here have a habit of not crediting the real talent. He added that he has worked with stars like Atif Aslam and he is established enough. Thus he called out Aima as he wanted to set a precedent for newcomers so no one could take their credit away.
