Ramzan transmissions in Pakistan are of key importance because the channels’ yearly bread and butter depends on a successful Ramzan season. There has been a constant race for ratings among all the mainstream TV channels. The content departments and hosts create sensational content in order to grab headlines, create hype, and go viral on digital and social media platforms. Fiza Ali was the first one who started sensationalism after disclosing Dr. Nabiha’s separation on her show. After that, Nida Yasir sparked headlines with Bushra Ansari and Iqbal Hussain and also invited a divorced couple together. Javeria Saud is also planting fake calls that grab the spotlight.

During this ongoing TRPs and views race, senior Pakistani television actor Fazila Qazi gathered the courage to call out the content departments and hosts of the channels, saying that during Ramzan the devil has not been locked up by Allah but has instead joined all the mainstream media channels. In response, one of the Ramzan transmission hosts, Javeria Saud, made a statement saying that Fazila Qazi is saying all this because she hasn’t gotten a chance to host Ramzan transmissions on television.

Fazila Qazi later responded to Javeria Saud through meaningful Instagram posts:

After seeing this online heated exchange, Sonya took to social media, where she expressed her disappointment with all the senior artists who are fighting during Ramzan.

Taking to social media, Sonya Hussyn wrote, “I honestly can’t believe what I’m seeing. Why are some artists behaving so disgracefully online these days, especially during Ramadan? Using foul language, that too against a senior artist, is extremely disappointing and, tbh, even seniors should at times pause and reflect before speaking. And if anyone thinks hosting a Ramadan transmission is a monumental achievement, then indeed, it is. Many of us have been offered this opportunity multiple times, yet even the thought of it sends shivers down the spine. We do not consider ourselves knowledgeable enough to carry such weight. It is a saadat, and you’re lucky because saadat comes to few. Sensationalist, TRP-driven content on TV might boost a channel temporarily, but have we ever considered how it gradually drags society’s intellectual standards down to zero? People look up to us, observe us, and learn from us. We should use this status wisely, including myself. Recognition is a blessing, but only humility proves you deserve it. Read her post:
