Sunita Marshall is a prominent Pakistani actress and model who first rose to fame through modelling. She later switched to acting and delivered memorable performances in classic dramas such as Malika, Mera Saaein, Khuda Aur Muhabbat, Mein Akeli, Tair-e-Lahooti, Khuda Aur Muhabbat 3, Pinjra, Baby Baji, Sher, and Maa, among others. Sunita Marshall is married to fellow actor Hassan Ahmed, whom she tied the knot with in 2009. Together, the couple is blessed with two children, a son named Raakin and a daughter named Zynah.
Recently, Sunita Marshall appeared on Fahad’s Den podcast, where she opened up about the Nadir Ali podcast controversy and her experience of living as a minority in Pakistan.
Talking about the Nadir Ali podcast controversy, Sunita Marshall said, “You are talking about Nadir Ali’s podcast—everyone knows about it. I will be honest; he had multiple controversial episodes already aired before he called me, I was naturally reluctant, but he kept messaging and calling. Then he approached Hassan through a reference, and Hassan asked me to just give the interview. I finally agreed because I thought, ‘This person is so adamant, and what would he even ask a straightforward and serious person like me?’ I went there and had the interview, and it was completely normal. He was so sweet, and I had nothing in mind. A week later, the episode went on air, and people started tagging me. I was completely clueless about what had happened. I rewatched the episode, and when I heard the phrase ‘Allah aap ko hidayat de,’ I realized it was a common phrase Pakistanis use abundantly without much thought. He said the same thing, and my expressions were also normal because I didn’t notice it at the time. However, people noticed it and made it bigger. In a way, it was good because it taught a lesson to him and me as well. It also made me happy that people were incredibly supportive of me, not only from Pakistan but also from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, and India. Receiving that support as a Pakistani was truly heartwarming.”
Talking about living in Pakistan as a minority, Sunita Marshall said, “Being a minority and living in urban areas, I have never faced any issues because people here are educated. However, minorities living in the countryside still face many challenges because people in rural areas are more regressive.” Watch here:
