Tauqeer Nasir is a veteran Pakistani television actor who has worked in numerous hit dramas. Tauqeer Nasir’s hit dramas include Yaad Piya Ki Aye, Thakan, Baal o Par, Kashkol, Sona Chandi, Landa Bazaar, Rahain, Reza Reza, Panah , Aik Haqeeqat Aik Afsansa, Samandar and Dehleez. Tauqeer Nasir was also awarded with Tamgha e Imtiaz and Sitara e Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan for his services in the field of art and culture. He also served in the government as Director General (DG) of Pakistan National Council of Arts.
Recently, he was a guest on the Dunya TV show Mazaqraat. During the show, Touqeer Nasir compared PTV’s professionalism with the unprofessional attitude of new actors.
Talking about it, he said, “I would like to give credit of old PTV dramas to those makers who are no longer with us, they were so disciplined and professional in their world. We were lucky to have worked with Ashfaq Ahmed who used to sit with us and correct us. Yawar Hayat, Muhammad Nisar Hussain, they used to monitor our rehearsals which were very strict, we weren’t even allowed to talk. Nowadays, there are no rehearsals. They are following shortcuts now. The girls today spend two hours in make-up. I often say to them, ‘Do you have this much patience to spend hours in make-up? If they prepare for the script, their work will shine. Now, the associate director gives them a page right before the shot. Also, many girls are busy calling friends and replying to them on phone like, ‘Oh, ok! I’m in between the shot and will talk to you later!’ Now, everything is taken care of on the set except the work and craft. Overall the system is corrupt now”. Here is the link to the video:
