Talking about it, Tehseen W Chishti said, “I took the auditions of Atif Aslam and Goher Mumtaz, and I am saying this on record. They were studying at PICS College (Pakistan Institute of Computer Studies). My phupo’s son was a known singer back then as he gained fame after singing for Shaan Shahid’s films. PICS College invited him to secretly judge a singing competition, and he referred me as a judge. PICS invited me to shortlist the boys, and Goher picked me up for the shortlisting event. Atif Aslam came to.me before the auditions started, he had flu. So, he came to me saying, ‘Sir, I have flu, but I can sing, my voice is okay. Sir, please ignore the flu.’ I told him it was okay. Goher was there to audition as a musician, not a singer. I selected Atif Aslam, and he sang Hath Se Hath Kya Gya, a Pakistani song originally sung by Sonu Nigam, although a Pakistani singer, Zain, later claimed to have sung it.” Here is the link to the video:
