Pakistani dramas are watched all over the world now. Our dramas have a massive set and environment problem as all the dramas are shot in the same two villas and no innovation is ever sought to make anything interesting. Styling the characters is another department which can make a show visually appealing and more people will look forward to them. But this is another part where the makers lag big time and sometimes even a good character is ruined by bad or out of place styling. Bad styling syndrome is affecting many on-air dramas right now. Here is a list of current Pakistani dramas with bad and out of place styling:
Laiba Khan In Kaffara
Laiba Khan played the lead role in blockbuster Kaffara. She was paired with Ali Ansari who plays a rich and suave Salar. Laiba’s character Sitara is a middle class girl for half of the show and her styling there is understandable. But she did not improve even after getting married to a man like Salar. Her wedding dress to her day to day outfits looked drab. Moreover, the makeup team aged her when she is very young in real life. How styling should change with financial status was correctly depicted by Ayeza Khan in Mere Paas Tum Ho and something similar should have been adapted by Laiba Khan which was not the case.
Ushna Shah In Ghair
Ushna Shah is a beautiful and talented actress. She has done some very out of the box characters with Alif Allah Aur Insan, Balaa and even Parizaad but she is playing the typical damsel in distress in the newly on-air drama Ghair. Ushna’s character is supposed to this abandoned girl who is not owned by her father, thrown away from her adoptive family and she works in the kitchen all day. But her hair is perfectly coiled and blow dried even in the morning. A perfect example of out of place styling.
Kinza Razzaq In Dil e Nadan
Dil e Nadan has turned out to be the biggest joke on television. A very talented cast has been wasted on a script that is simply mindless. Kinza Razzaq plays the vamp/hero’s ex who is obsessed with him. Her character is supposed to be ultra-rich with everything done to perfection but her styling has been a hit and a miss. She looks good in some places while her tops look to be from Sunday Bazar in the others. There is a serious lack of consistency in her styling and her makeup is also horrible in some parts of the show.
Munazzah Arif
Dil e Nadan has another styling disaster with Munazzah Arif. She plays a very rich woman who should have expensive jewellery and the right choice of outfits but her styling is not doing justice to her character. She was supposed to look like Farida from Humsafar but she ended up looking like a character from Baby Baji 2 OST. Her hairdos and jewellery are not doing her any good and they seem out of place in every scene.
Shaheera Jalil Al Basit In Aakhri Baar
Shaheera Jalil Al Basit is a great new addition to the industry. She looked fabulous in her debut project Razia. She looked young, radiant and performed brilliantly in the series. Shaheera was also a great addition in Burns Road Ke Romeo Juliet but her styling is bad in Aakhri Baar. The makeup department specifically let her down as her foundation tones are wrong and they have caked her makeup hiding her beautiful skin unnecessarily.
Duniyapur Ladies
Duniyapur is the most expensive show on-air right now. There has been a lot of effort done on the sets, supporting cast as well as outfits of the lead characters. However, the ladies of Duniyapur except Ramsha Khan seem to have a lack of funds. Their outfits look cheap while the jewellery is also not matching up with their Adam and Nawab personas.
Hiba Ali Khan In Jaan Nisar
Hiba Ali Khan plays the vampish Kashmala in Jaan Nisar. Hiba is a beautiful woman with a great sense of style but her styling as Kashmala is hideous. She is wearing the cheapest jewellery despite being the bahu of the Ghaznavi family twice over. Her outfits are unnecessarily loud and look out of place. She should have looked similar to Hina Bayat who is playing the Ghaznavi family matriarch. Hiba was cheated in styling as Kashmala and things could have been much better.
Alizeh Shah In Ishq Beparwah
Ishq Beparwah is yet another drama with a very naive heroine. Alizeh Shah plays Jannat and the makeup for her character is mostly ruining her overall styling. The makeup is thick and cakey and sticks out like a sore thumb in every scene. Alizeh is a beautiful girl and things should have been kept simpler like her styling as Dua in Ehd e Wafa.
Aina Asif In Woh Ziddi Si
Aina Asif in Woh Ziddi Si is playing the negative character. Her character is once again facing the makeup issue. Her makeup paired with perfectly curled hair is out of place. She is playing a teenage student who should look a lot more raw and natural and not perfectly styled all the time. This is aging her far more than she really is.
Hira Khan In Aik Chubhan Si
Hira Khan plays a negative character in Aik Chubhan Si. Her character needs to be a siren who can trap people with her looks. With respect to what she is playing in the drama, her styling is very mediocre and she is not looking the part at all.
