Kafeel is a popular Kafeel on ARY Digital, garnering praise for its unique storyline. The drama is presented by Big Bang Entertainment, with an impeccable script written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Meesam Naqvi. While Umera Ahmed’s script is widely appreciated, the drama has faced backlash over the storyline shown after a 20-year time jump. Initially, viewers believed that the younger cast weakened the narrative and also criticized the writer for including multiple teenage love tracks.

Recently, Umera Ahmed responded to the criticism. She also blamed the production for miscasting the children of Zeba and Jami in the show.

Taking it to her X (formerly Twitter) Umera Ahmed wrote, “Original time lapse in the script of #Kafeel was 27 years. Subuk was 26 years old, Juveria was 25 years old when she got married, and the youngest, Tania, was 18 years old. Due to casting, they changed the time lapse, because of which many people feel it is showing young kids getting married.”

Fans, however, are still questioning the writer for portraying early marriages among youth aged 18 to 25. One wrote, “We expected more than just marriages from you.” Another commented that the whole family depends on the young male figure, Subuk, and does not empower women. Many also said it is problematic to see such young characters portrayed as Zeba and Jami’s children. Some added that she should have objected to this casting at the time. A few are calling out Meesam Naqvi for adding his favourite Gen-Z touch in the show. Many are agreeing with Umera Ahmed as well. Read comments here:
