Humsafar was a blockbuster Pakistani drama serial that aired in late 2011. It garnered a massive TRP of nearly 13.9. The episodes received millions of views on YouTube and the drama was equally popular in India. Viewers loved the intense on-screen chemistry between Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan. The drama was written by Farhat Ishtiaq and produced by Momina Duraid. Its OST, sung by Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch, became an all-time hit. The drama was directed by Sarmad Khoosat, who did complete justice to the project. However, surprisingly, he was not the first choice to direct Humsafar.
Recently, renowned director Saifee Hassan revealed that Sarmad Khoosat was not the original choice for the show.
In a podcast with Ghania Siddiqui for Bunyad, Saifee Hassan said, “It often happens that a director has to refuse a project because of prior work commitments. The same happened with the drama serial Humsafar. Aabis Raza was originally supposed to direct Humsafar, but he couldn’t complete his ongoing project due to certain reasons. After that, Humsafar went to Sarmad Khoosat because Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan had already given their dates. Just a week before the shoot, Sarmad Khoosat joined the team, quickly read the script, and then the shooting began. The drama went on to become a blockbuster.” Watch here:
