Hajra Yamin is bold, talented and opinionated. She always speaks her mind and never bows down before societal pressures. Though she has been a part of a few run of the mill projects, she generally tries to take up roles that are different and offer something to the audience. She has done films like Pink Memsaab and recently signed up for a webseries Sevak which showed the real face of fascism occurring in India. Hajra played an Indian reporter named Vidya in the project.
The webseries also featured Mohsin Abbas Haider who has been cancelled by the industry after allegations of domestic abuse on his ex-wife came out a few years ago. He lost nearly his whole career and many people have said that they will not work with him. Recently host Rabia Anam refused to sit with him on a morning show.
Hajra was asked in a recent interview that why did she agree to work alongside Mohsin. To this she replied that our industry only has a limited number of roles for women where she is playing someone unique and not a damsel in distress, so she will never leave her professional place and will take the opportunity if she gets a good role. However, she can avoid going to award shows or events where such people with allegations are given space and that is something she will consider doing.
This is what she shared:
