Guru is a great new addition to the television screens. Ali Rehman Khan is playing the titular role of Guru Sattar and he has won hearts with the way he has portrayed the character. Guru Sattar is an intersex individual and the character has been portrayed with sensitivity towards the intersex community. Ali Rehman Khan shared the hard work that went into creating Guru in an interview with the Independent Urdu.
He shared that he did a lot of research before performing the role of Guru as he wanted the character to look authentic and the portrayal close to reality.

Ali also talked about the look and makeup that was created for Guru. He shared that it was a collaborative effort as he wanted Guru’s clothes to be a certain type to bring authenticity while Shazia Wajahat did a lot of work with the makeup team on the look of Guru.

Ali also revealed that he tried on several accents for Guru and finally met real intesex people so he can pick on their accents and bring originality to his character:
He also answered the controversy regarding not casting any actual intersex people for the four main roles. He said that they had auditioned people from eal intersex community but none of them were actors as professionals which made them cast male actors as intersex people. He also went on to praise Joyland’s Alina Khan and said that he believes that more people from the Khawaja Sira community should join the industry.
