Asma Abbas comes from a very talented family. Her sister Bushra Ansari is a superstar while other sister Neelam and Sumbul are also well-known names. Their father Ahmad Bashir was a famous writer and journalist and his name was established among the intellectuals community of Pakistan. She revealed some unknown facts about his life in an interview with Noor ul Hassan.
Asma Abbas shared that her father was actually married twice. He got married to a cousin selected by his parents and fled after Nikkah as he never wanted to marry her. He then went to a friend’s house who helped him divorce his first wife and then he got married to Asma’s mother who was also a relative of his. Thus their mom was Ahmad Bashir’s second wife.

Asma Abbas went on to share that her father loved her mother way too much and could not live without her. Thus when she gave birth to their first child, writer Neelam Bashir and went to her mother’s house to recuperate, Asma’s father asked her to come the very next day of child birth. She refused so he ended up sending fake divorce papers to scare her. She got scared and ran back to their home, only to find out that it was a fake divorce notice.
