There is no dearth of talent in this country and Pakistanis are known for making the best dramas out there with many of our projects trending not only in Pakistan but worldwide as well. We have made several stories that ended up becoming classics and people still enjoy watching them. In the last decade and a half, we have gotten a whole new breed of stars who are considered A-listers these days and people will watch any project with their name associated with it.
Here is a list of dramas that made these Pakistani celebrities into superstars of today:
Fawad Khan was a successful singer and he had done acting projects including the critically acclaimed and commercial success, Khuda Ke Liye but Humsafar made him The Fawad Khan of today.
She started her career as a VJ and later became a film star with her debut acting project Bol but Humsafar is what made her a star and there has been no looking back for the diva.
She had dramas like Daam and Mera Naseeb under her belt but Zindagi Gulzar Hai and her iconic character Kashaf Murtaza is what put her on the map.
A super successful musician decided to enter the field of acting and did projects like De Ijazat Jo Tu and a mega-hit Udaari but Suno Chanda is what made people notice him seriously.
Iqra Aziz is another Suno Chanda alum and the release of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi in the same time period made her a bankable star.
Feroze Khan has been working before as well but his role as Mir Hadi in Khaani is what made him a star. Fun fact: The role was first offered to Mohsin Abbas Haider who turned it down.
Sana also had done some good projects like Pyare Afzal and Zara Yaad Kar but Khaani put her on the list of A-listers.
Sajal Aly has worked really hard to reach the position she is in today. She is an international star now and it all started coming together with her performance in Chup Raho.
Ahad Raza Mir:
Ahad Raza Mir did not have to try for long. He got a big film; Parwaaz Hai Junoon; made his drama debut with Sammi and became a household name after he played Dr Asfandyar in Yakeen Ka Safar. His chemistry with Sajal Aly was the talk of the town and he bagged great projects after that.
Yumna Zaidi is an example of slow and steady wins the race. She has given some really strong performances in her career. Her stint in Dar Si Jati Hai Sila made people really notice her and there has been only rising and rising for her after Pyar Ke Sadqay.
Bilal Abbas Khan:
O Rangreza made Bilal a star. The Qasim and Sassi saga was a superhit and Bilal has never looked back.
Hania had done good roles in hit dramas before too but her role as Roomi in Isqiya made her a household name. She has since been a part of the blockbuster Mere Humsafar and Mujhe Pyar Hua Tha among others.
Ramsha Khan won hearts with Hum Tum. Hum Tum has helped her reach the top though she has done big dramas like Kaisa hai Naseeba, Ishqiya and Ghissi Pitti Mohabbat before that.
People loved Sarah Kahn for her positive roles but her role as the strong-headed Miral in Sabaat made people notice how versatile she is. Then came Raqs e Bismil and Moosa and Zohra will be remembered for ages.
Ayeza Khan is one of the biggest stars in the industry with some great projects in her name but Pyare Afzal is how she arrived in the world of superstardom.
Hamza Ali Abbasi:
The Afzal of Pyare Afzal, that is the drama that made people fall in love with Hamza Ali Abbasi. He has since done projects like Alif and The Legend of Maula Jatt but Afzal is whom people still remember.
He is a great actor and he had also done films but Deewangi is when Danish Taimoor truly became a star. He has since given some very intense performances and people rune into any project with his name associated with it.
Starting her career as a child actress and growing steadily in the industry, Khaali Haath made Aiman stand in the big leagues and she is now a days counted among the most followed celebrities in Pakistan despite being on a break from work.
After working in so many dramas, Jalan is what made Minal Khan a star and Nisha is a character that will not be forgotten easily.
Muneeb Butt has also achieved success after hard work and he managed to become a star after his extremely negative character in Kaisa Hai Naseeban. That is one toxic man people still remember.
Ahmed Ali Akbar:
People who had followed his work already knew what Ahmed Ali Akbar was made of but after Parizaad, the actor is a household name and people are dying to see him back on screen with his upcoming Idiot.
Imran started his career as a supporting actor. He was finally noticed after he played Shamu in Alif Allah Aur Insan but it was Ranjha Ranjha Kardi that showed the world that supporting actors can become big leading stars given an opportunity. He took the role of Bhola and made him immortal.
Maya Ali had done hits like Ek Nayi Cinderella and Aun Zara, both of these were big hits but Mann Mayal is what made her a household name. Manu is still being used for memes and that itself is enough to show how successful Mann Mayal was.
Urwa arrived as a star with the critically acclaimed Udaari. She was fabulous in the drama and people just fell in love with her character.
Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood stint also got her a lot of fame but it was Sammi which made her a bankable drama star. Sammi was also the debut drama of Ahad Raza Mir.
Hira Mani has done hosting and appeared on shows with her husband. She made her acting debut with Preet Na Kariyo Koi but Do Bolm is what came about as a breakthrough project in her career.
Kubra Khan made her acting debut with Na Maloom Afraad and then went on to star in the television series Sange Mar Mar. Sange Mar Mar became a classic and Kubra was a hit from her very first drama. She has been a part of many big projects since that and not slowing down anytime soon.
So, we have a few stars who became the talk of the town with a single project while others had to work hard for years to reach the position they are in. What is interesting though is that many star kids are joining the industry in the past few years and there have been talks of nepotism as well but you can see, only talent will win hearts at the end of the day and not the sir names!
