Mai Sobhayi is the latest victim of gender based violence in Pakistan. Femicide has become a huge epidemic in the country. From honour killings to domestic violence and rapes, women are going through the darkest times in the history of the nation and there is no respite in site. This comes as a another big case as another woman succumbs to violence.
Mai Sobhayi is a folk singer hailing from Balochistan. She was singing her local folk music and she became the first ever woman from the Dera Bugti tribe to showcase her talent this way. However, this did not settle well with some people who targeted her and came to shoot her.
ARY Digital reported that a group of men came to kill Mai Sobhayi in Dera Bugti. They opened fire at her and another talented woman passed away in a brutal case of violence. They fled the scene after killing her. Police is investigating and they have not announced any report yet. Here is what went down:
