Sahar made her debut with superstars like Faysal Quraishi, Shahzad Sheikh and Tazeen Hussain. She received massive support from her co-stars and delivered a decent performance in her very first television project. Zulm became Sahar’s introduction to dramas; the show was a hit, but her presence did not make much noise. Her next steps in her career, though, established her as a rising star.

Sahar Hashmi went on to star opposite another superstar, Danish Taimoor. Danish is dubbed a guarantee of commercial success, and that is what happened for Sahar as well. Mann Mast Malang, written by Nooran Makhdoom and directed by Ali Faizan, turned out to be an extremely controversial project. It already pulled in the audience massively due to Danish Taimoor playing the lead role. Added to that were the vulgar and over-the-top scenes between the leads played by Danish and Sahar Hashmi; it ended up becoming a topic of discussion everywhere. She also starred as a second lead in Zanjeerain as Bano. She never wanted to sign this character, but as she was personally asked by the Hum TV management, she ended up saying yes. A role which she shot in extreme distress due to the set environment once again catapulted her to success. Bano showed her range, that she can take on complex scenes, and she is not just made for straight rom-coms.

Sahar Hashmi once again has big dramas in the pipeline. She will be featuring with Ahsan Khan and Durab Khalil in the upcoming Jamal e Zohra, to be aired on Hum TV sometime later this year, and this is another big project.

She has also bagged another Geo TV project where she will be starring opposite two big names: Farhan Saeed and Faysal Quraishi.

She filmed them before as the story needed them, but she will not do it anymore as she feels that the actors work for the public, and she does not want to do anything which is not acceptable to the audience. Sahar lost her mother as soon as she made her acting debut. She was extremely traumatised, and she felt that she had no purpose in life. She did not want to sign several projects, including Zanjeerain, as she was having panic attacks. It was difficult for her to act in a death scene as she nursed her mother in her last days, and she had lived with her for her whole life. She later signed Zanjeerain, as she wanted to overcome her personal fears.
