The Reverse Cinderella Trope
Bas Tera Saath Ho looked like a second copy of Mere Humsafar from its very first promo. The writer replaced Hala with Anas this time, and now we had a male character playing the damsel in distress, a trope usually associated with female actors in our drama industry. This trope in a man has not worked much for the drama. Farhan Saeed, who plays Anas, has a crazy fan following. This translated into views for the show, but no one likes a “hero” with zero backbone and spirit. The character became extremely annoying, not because he is a coward and remains quiet, but because Anas, as a man, is endangering his wife by forcing her to not pursue a case and live with a man who leaked her AI-generated video and keeps harassing her in several ways. Thus, this choice has largely become a miss for this drama.
A Heroine With Self-Respect
Sana Javed made her drama acting comeback with Bas Tera Saath Ho. She is playing Ansa, a strong-headed girl who always takes a stand for herself. This is one thing which worked well for the drama, as the girl has a brain and she is not scared to use it. She has stood up for her inheritance rights, defended her character everywhere, and she is also becoming financially independent. So, we finally have a Pakistani heroine who knows what she is worth.
The Dragging
Bas Tera Saath Ho is currently one of the most dragged dramas on Pakistani television. Though it is doing well in terms of viewership, it is losing its quality. With 32 episodes in, the show is still standing where it stood when Anas and Ansa got married. The negative characters keep putting obstacles in their way, while Anas keeps running away from facing hardships. He still has not gotten a proper job, though he started looking for one right after his Nikkah. The only movement we have seen in the plot is in the Shehreen-Fahaam track. This unnecessary dragging, with the secrets not coming out, has become a dent in the drama becoming great, and fans are now feeling annoyed.
Interesting Villains
The thing which is working the most for Bas Tera Saath Ho is the VILLAINS. Mursaleen Taya and his toxic family have ended up becoming the best part of the show. Haris Waheed as Shayan has been so entertaining and charismatic that the audience loves to watch him despite knowing that he is a boy who made a girl’s fake AI video. Shehreen, played by Zoya Nasir, is the obsessed girl dying to get married to a rich playboy, and her track has become far more fascinating than Anas and Ansa. Even Shazia and Mursaleen are far more entertaining than the leads. Thus, the villains of the show are what is working for it in the end.
Conclusion
Mere Humsafar was a huge blockbuster, and therefore, Bas Tera Saath Ho being presented as its part 2 already made it a project everyone looked forward to. The drama also has the same team and nearly the same script, with a gender swap. But Hania Aamir’s helplessness was much more believable than Farhan Saeed’s, who looks very much capable of handling everything flawlessly. The show has ended up becoming a mixed bag, and it is high time for the big revelations and the story to move towards the climax if the makers do not want the audience to lose interest.

Hina Javed got married to a NUST Professor Faisal Asghar Imam in November 2025. Her body was found tortured and hung in their apartment. It was first staged to be a robbery but the building security denied claims of a break in and Hina was still wearing her gold bangles.
