Aik Aur Pakeezah is a Geo TV prime-time drama serial produced by Kashf Foundation in collaboration with 7th Sky Entertainment. The drama is written by Bee Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar. The story revolves around an innocent girl whose life takes a tragic turn after a video of her and her fiancé goes viral on the internet. Sehar Khan and Nameer Khan play the lead roles, while Gohar Rasheed and Amina Ilyas appear as the second leads.
Geo TV has so far aired four episodes of Aik Aur Pakeezah, which depict how a couple is trapped and harassed by a mob while eating pizza at a local café. In the drama, the couple was targeted by violent boys who record inappropriate videos of them and circulate the footage on the internet.
The story of Aik Aur Pakeezah appears to be inspired by a real-life incident that took place in Rawalpindi/Islamabad a few years ago. In that case, a man subjected a young couple to severe abuse. He blackmailed them, stripped them at gunpoint, recorded videos, physically assaulted them, and later they were gang-raped. The incident received widespread media attention, and the accused was arrested. However, the victims later refused to identify him, despite massive public support on social media. It remains unclear whether they were threatened or pressured, but both denied recognizing the culprit. Reportedly, the real-life culprit got a lifetime imprisonment.
Kashf Foundation and Geo TV are receiving praise for highlighting the growing menace of blackmail and cybercrime in Pakistan. A fan wrote, “I really don’t understand why people in the comments keep saying ‘kyun milay dono bahar.’ No one notices that they didn’t meet in a private room; they were eating pizza in a public place.
