Gul Plaza was a popular shopping complex in Karachi that was built in the early eighties. The shopping complex was known for bulk selling and purchasing. It was a household name among the people of Karachi who used to buy goods for their newly built houses, dowries, and other items related to weddings and events. There were more than 1200 shops in the plaza. On Saturday, at around 10:10 pm, a fire broke out at the shopping mall, as a result of which the shopping area was completely burnt and more than 150 people lost their lives.
Today, Nida Yasir conducted her show with Gul Plaza shop owners. During the show, she shared her personal experience of visiting Gul Plaza.
Talking about it, Nida Yasir said, “Last week, before the fire broke out at Gul Plaza, I went there to buy a coffee machine. I remember going to each floor and visiting several kitchen shops for my coffee machine. Seeing all those faces later on the media felt very weird and hurtful to me because they all seemed so familiar to me because of my, as I had just visited them recently. Not only this, I used to visit Gul Plaza quite often. I bought all my set’s equipment from there. Whenever I needed something for my set or my house, I would wear a mask and go to Gul Plaza. It had everything related to kitchens, crockery, decorations, and bedsheets. We also felt very comfortable shopping there.” Here is the link to the video:
