The two shared great camaraderie on the field, with Miandad being Khan’s most trusted partner—someone he could rely on blindly when a match was on the line. Despite their distinct lifestyles and career paths after retirement, both Javed Miandad and Imran Khan never stopped respecting each other.
Now, Imran Khan has been behind bars for more than three years, and it is painful for his former teammate Javed Miandad, who once played under Imran Khan’s captaincy. In his recent interview, Javed Miandad became emotional and started crying while talking about what is happening to Imran Khan.
Javed Miandad said, “I want to say to Pakistan: resolve everything, and after that, do whatever you want. It’s unnecessary to put him in jail. He’s someone’s son. It keeps running through my mind—what’s happening to him? He is a national hero. He is my colleague. We spent time together and played together. I know Imran Khan; he’s an honest man. He’s not corrupt. Otherwise, he would have made properties. What will happen if you free him? Will he eat? I feel so much when I think about him and what’s happening to him in jail. He further added, “We didn’t have any rivalry. We were there to play for Pakistan. I never spoke against Imran Khan. We had a great relationship and spent good times together. But I feel sad about him. I want things to be resolved properly because he deserves it.” Watch here:
