Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi are two renowned Pakistani celebrities who recently grabbed online attention after the court announced its verdict in their long-awaited legal case, which was a defamation suit filed by Ali Zafar after Meesha Shafi accused him of harassment in 2018. The verdict was announced on 31st March. The sessions court revealed it did not find Ali Zafar guilty of harassment. According to the court’s ruling, Meesha Shafi was fined Rs. 5 million on charges of defaming the singer’s reputation. The court observed that Meesha did not appear in court and could not provide sufficient evidence, while Ali Zafar presented all his witnesses before the court.

Now, the Lahore High Court has revised the decision and provided major relief to Meesha Shafi. The Lahore High Court has partially suspended the Rs 50 lakh damages imposed on Meesha Shafi in the defamation case filed by Ali Zafar. However, the court did not provide full relief and upheld the earlier restriction that bars Meesha Shafi from repeating her sexual harassment allegations.

The court also instructed Meesha Shafi to deposit half of the penalty amount and provide a surety bond for the remaining sum. The LHC also issued a notice to Ali Zafar, asking him to respond to the appeal. Watch here:
