Mahesh Bhatt: Upcoming Film ‘Dushman’ Is An Attempt To Improve India, Pakistani Bond

Pakistan and India’s political relationship are not stable post the URI attack. The dispute between the neighbors has also effected art. Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, said his upcoming Punjabi movie ‘Dushman’ is based on the relationship between neighbors India and Pakistan, is their way of working towards improving ties between the two countries.

Mahesh Bhatt has time and again spoken in favor of Pakistan and was often bashed by Indians too. According to him, he is now taking an initiative to work towards improving the ties between the neighboring countries. The veteran filmmaker unveiled the first look of his upcoming Punjabi film ‘Dushman’. The film, written by Shagufta Rafique – who has also made her directorial debut with it – features actors Jashan Singh, Kartar Cheema and Sakshi Gulati.

“Indo-Pak relationship is a topic which ignites pain in the hearts of people for both the countries. Everyone wishes to see India, Pakistan as friendly neighbors, but a deep wound is still fresh which is bleeding till date and we haven’t been able to soothe it. This movie is our attempt to improve sentiments between the two countries,” Bhatt said.

“The film will take the audience through a variety of emotions and a high voltage action,” added Bhatt, who often calls himself a facilitator of the cultural dialogue between India and Pakistan.

According to Shagufta Rafique, who has worked for 11 years as a screenwriter with Bhatt’s home banner Vishesh Films, Dushman is “about love, hate and brotherhood”.

The film is produced by Vinay Bhardwaj under the banner Yellowstone Production Pvt Ltd in association with PVR Pictures. The music has been composed by Jaidev Kumar and the album is an assorted collection of four songs with music maestros of both India and Pakistan on T-Series. The film is slated to release on 3rd March, 2017.
