Mahira Khan starrer ‘Raees’ becomes the most pirated movie of 2017

Pirated movies aren’t anything new to any of us, the number of pirated movies is increases every moment as we speak. It unquestionably affects the performance of a film on box office and all the effort put into the project by actors, directors, producers and the entire crew is never fully and rightly compensated.

We are well aware that all Bollywood films are pirated and according to the report issued by a German firm the most pirated film of 2017 was none other than the Mahira Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’. The movie was pirated 6,187,369 times. While ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Jolly LLB 2’ were second and third on the list respectively.

Kaabil – 5,263,526

Jolly LLB 2 – 4,435,585

Toilet – Ek Prem Katha – 4,270,529

Half Girlfriend – 4,210,243

Badrinath Ki Dulhania – 4,022,014

Golmaal Again – 3,832,369

Ok Jaanu – 3,657,327

The Ghaazi Attack – 3,429,706

Judwaa 2 – 3,398,929

Rahul Dholakia, director of Raees took to Twitter and expressed his concern over the matter.

Kaabil director, Sanjay Gupta stated how Rakesh Roshan had to take extra measures to ensure that the film wasn’t shared illegally. He said,

“Rakesh Ji endured torture and agony. With help from private companies hired to monitor piracy, he had taken over 3,400 websites where the film was illegally available within the first three days of its release.”

Jolly LLB 2’s Subhash Kapoor also explained,

“Whether it is the government or the producers’ bodies that need to act, they’re not doing enough. We need comprehensive policy introduced by the government. They don’t understand the seriousness of the situation, and how it’s harming the industry.”
