Marina Khan Disappointed in Zanjeerain’s Script

Zanjeerain is a popular Pakistani prime-time drama series that received widespread praise and recognition soon after it aired. The drama gained even more momentum following the tragic deaths of Sher Dil and Mudassir. Airing on Hum TV, it is directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, written by Farhat Ishtiaq, and presented by Momina Duraid Productions. The story revolves around the tribal culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Despite its strong start and overwhelmingly positive response from viewers, the drama has failed to maintain its momentum in the later episodes. It has recently been facing severe public and critical backlash, with many viewers believing that the story has lost its direction. Last week, Nadia Khan and Atiqa Odho strongly criticized the drama. This week, Marina Khan also expressed her disappointment over the poor scriptwriting, saying that the drama has lost its core essence.

Talking about it, Marina Khan said, “Zanjeerain gave us excellent cinematography, but then they completely stagnated the story. They ruined a very promising plotline. Now, it has started moving a little, so I can finally see some hope that it might go somewhere. But look at where they started—the deaths of Sher Dil and Mudassir, the revenge angle, Toursam, his anger and his life, and Zafran, who is such a complicated character. Where have all these storylines gone? Mudassir was killed, but is anyone even investigating his murder? We don’t know anything about it. Is everyone in the story on vacation now? All we’re seeing are Sarbuland and Rabya. I don’t understand why they’re getting close or why nobody is noticing or questioning it. Thankfully, they have now brought up the poisoning angle again, but even that was addressed so casually while he was sitting in a café. It hurts when such a good story is ruined. The characters, the actors—everyone had so much potential, but it’s as if the characters have been put on mute. The whole revenge track has ended. I thought Sarbuland would become the Sardar and resolve the issues in his own way, but I’m disappointed with the story.”

The drama viewers are agreeing with the Kya Drama Hai judges about Zanjeerain losing its plot and trying to show forced romance between Sarbuland and Rabya. Read the comments:
