Lately, Maulana Tariq Jamil has come under scrutiny after allegedly ignoring a child during a bayan at his madrassa. When he arrived at the venue, he was greeted by many people, including a young child. However, the Maulana appeared to dismiss the child’s attempt and did not shake his hand. The clip has now gone viral on social media.
Recently, Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son, Yousaf Jamil, addressed the controversy and said, “Assalamu Alaikum. For the past few days, a video of Maulana Tariq Jamil has been going viral, showing a child trying to shake hands with him while he did not respond. This is being heavily criticized, and I believe it needs clarification. Look, Maulana is now over 70 years old, and it was the month of Ramadan. His entire day was spent in busy schedules, and thousands of people come to meet him daily. Sometimes, due to sheer exhaustion, such things happen. This certainly does not mean he had any ill intent toward the child or that he is arrogant. The child belonged to our madrassa, and Maulana meets these children on a daily basis. It was Ramadan, and Maulana’s routine during Ramadan is very different. He spends most of his time in worship and usually sleeps by 9 PM, but on that particular day, he had to stay awake for the address at the madrassa. Due to exhaustion, he could not shake hands with the children. We are all human, and humans can make mistakes. Please consider this as well. Celebrities like Maulana spend entire days greeting and shaking hands with people, and sometimes there comes a point when they have to avoid such interactions.” Watch here. Watch here:
