Nadia Jamil has recently spoken up on a viral Mufti Tariq Masood’s statement on glorifying four marriages in men.
In the viral video, Mufti Tariq Masood states that men married to three wives should stay away from him, as he only wants to see men having four wives and that his goal is for every man to marry four times. He further remarked that men should choose a widow or a divorcee for their first or second marriage, promising that if they do so, he will personally help them marry a virgin girl of their choice for their third marriage and if they demand, he can provide two four years old girls.
The clip was posted on Instagram by digital creator Areej Jamil which was later reshared by Nadia Jamil’s Instagram story. In her story, Nadia Jamil strongly condemned the cleric’s remarks, describing them as highly offensive and dangerous. She wrote, “What this man is saying is actually incredibly dangerous. In a world where women are being abused, raped, and killed, in a world where hating women has become so common, such speech is nothing less than inciting hate speech. And you don’t need to be a scholar to talk about the highly educated, accomplished women of Islam.”
