Nargis is a former Pakistani film artist and dancer who ruled Lollywood and theatre for years. She also hosted a few television shows. Her most notable films include Majajan and Chooriyan. She left the media industry soon after getting married to Majid Bashir. Nargis preferred to choose a righteous path and distanced herself from the limelight. She is now a successful businesswoman running a salon in Lahore. This year, Nargis had the opportunity to perform Hajj.

Recently, a clip from Nargis’s interview with Daily Pakistan is going viral on social media in which she said that Zakat has cleansed her showbiz earnings.

Nargis said, “We never used to clean our face or sweat because we didn’t want to mess up our makeup. We were those glittery and worldly labourers. But now, look at the other side. From 1992, ever since I started earning, I have never taken my income home without deducting 2.5 percent Zakat from it. I swear Zakat cleanses your money. Secondly, I used to think of my profession as my worship. I bet you can’t dig up any vulgar dance of mine. Will you believe people send me love during Tawaf? I never thought of stitching the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba, but I was honoured to do so. This year I felt that I was Allah’s guest. No one took money from me; I literally felt overwhelmed.” Watch here:
