Payment Issue is the most talked-about issue of our media industry nowadays. Artists are now raising voice against it openly. Recently we have seen Nauman Ijaz who also bashed production houses for not paying the actors on time and for holding the paychecks. Navin Waqar in a recent show also talked about the severity of this issue.
“As long as I have worked in this industry I think they weren’t this severe, but from the past 4, 5 years or so,” said Navin Waqar about the payment issues. When the host added that the production houses are making a lot more money now Navin said: “This is what I don’t understand that why and also on the top of that we keep getting pay cuts. Two years ago I was told that all the actor will get a 35% pay cut because financial status is not so well. You have no idea of the conditions that we work in and even in that, we work so hard. if you give the outcome of our efforts, that would be a pat on our backs that at least we got money on time. I have been in the position of chasing people for my own money for months and then I gave it up. Recently, I got a call to pick up a payment which was supposed to be made to me almost one and a half years ago. I forgot about it, I gave it up” she continued “And the sad thing is, it wasn’t like a huge sum but dude when you work and invest hours it’s your “Mehnat ki Kamai” and you don’t want to beg for it. If you are working at a bank or some other place, you don’t have to ask again and again for your salary, you will get your salary on time”
