Nazr e Bad Overview – A Convincing Start!

Ohkay so, the writing of Imran Nazeer, direction of Iqbal Hussain & the production of Moomal Entertainment; Nazr e Bad is a serial that has recently commenced & airs on HUM TV on Wednesdays & Thursdays at 9PM. I gave this drama a go on the recommendation of my dear friend & co-reviewer Fatima Awan & I must say, just a few minutes into the first episode & I was hooked. I watched the first 4 episodes without a break because it was done so well that it kept me glued to the screen. Nazr e Bad is a story about the widespread evil of black magic that has taken people’s lives by storm & even though we are in the very initial stages of the story, the way it has been conveyed & the way the entire subject has been tackled goes to show that the Team of Nazr e Bad had a clarity in their minds & knew just exactly what they wanted to show. For those of you who are still on the fence about this drama & are looking for a recommendation to tune to it, I will definitely say you should because you are going to experience a unique & unusual story which is done really well!

So, the main lead is Maham (Sara Khan) who lives with her parents Shafiq (Waseem Abbas) & Nusrat (Fazila Qazi). Maham has two brothers Ahmer & Baber & they are one happy family. Nusrat & Shafiq live in a joint family with Shafiq’s elder brother Ateeq & his wife Almas (Sakina Samo), even though their portions are separate their lives are not. Ateeq & Almas also have 3 children; Humera, Parvez (Azfar Rehman) & Abeera. Humera is married, whereas Parvez & Abeera are still single. On the other hand we have a family of Nusrat’s brother Aqmal, his wife Salma & their son Aftab (Ali Abbas). Ateeq & Shafiq also have a younger sister Shahista who resides in London but has a lot of say in the matters concerning the lives & the families of her brothers.

Nazr e Bad Overview - A Convincing Start!

Shafiq is a banker & he naturally makes more money than Ateeq. Shafiq’s family is at a good financial position because Shafiq did a lot of hard work & his main motivation was to give his small family a decent lifestyle. On the other hand, Ateeq finds it hard to keep his family afloat & that turns out to be the root-cause of the problems between the two families. Nusrat always feels that Almas keeps a close eye on everything that Nusrat or Shafiq do for their children, she monitors each & every single thing that happens in their lives & this is something that makes Nusrat uncomfortable because she believes that Almas’s insecurity & deprivation of basic necessities has turned her into a very envious person. Even though Shafiq & Maham make fun of Nusrat’s paranoia but Nusrat has a valid reason to believe that Almas is jealous of their lifestyle & the few luxuries that Shafiq affords for his family with ease.

Almas is someone who has turned herself into a victim, she believes that she has spent her entire life wishing for things & then letting them go because she never could afford anything easily. After completing his studies, Parvez is working & he is the one who is taking care of the household expenses. I must say, the team of Nazr e Bad has dealt with this subject with a lot of maturity, based on some proper facts, that is why, everything that was shown till 4th episode made a lot of sense & nothing seemed to be done on a whim.

Nazr e Bad Overview - A Convincing Start!

I will say that the approach of the drama-makers is commendable & the way they established the grounds for what Almas did was convincing & true, where they showed that everything started off with a mere comparison, where Almas always compared the things Nusrat had & she didn’t. Later that comparison took a form of envy, where she sighed at all the blessings that Nusrat had in her life & she didn’t. Then that envy turned into jealousy & that jealousy took a shape of hatred, which drove her to such an extent that she decided to create a havoc in their lives by resorting to Black Magic with the help of Babas & Fakirs (mostly black magicians & fortune tellers). Even though it is just going to be a side note but I think it is apt to share it here because that is something which actually has a connection with what is being shown in a drama. I read a few days ago how one should never give words to the negative feelings, like they shouldn’t say it out loud because the Satan is always on a look out for such a human being who is depressed, who is feeling deprived & someone who is busy in counting the things they don’t have, in stead of thanking the Creator for what they have & being satisfied. The Satan then takes those words into account & knows that this depressed soul can become a breeding ground to so much more negativity than that human being is even aware of & that is how the jealousy, hated & all these negative feelings & thoughts are nurtured. While looking at Almas, this is something that I was being constantly reminded of & could understand exactly what these words that I read a few days ago meant. In stead of praying for her inner peace, in stead of hoping for the things to get better & in stead of thanking the Creator for all the things she had, she focused more on the things Nusrat had. Almas spent her entire life in comparing what she didn’t have & how she was a victim of circumstances, that is why she turned into this bitter & negative soul who has now reached at this stage where she is literally playing with fire & isn’t even worried about the consequences that she or her family might have to face one day.

Nazr e Bad Overview - A Convincing Start!

Aftab & Maham are in love with each other. It is good to see that where Maham is full of life & innocently gullible, Aftab is mature & self-sufficent. I liked how confident Aftab is that just because he loves Maham, he knows he is going to stand by her no matter what happens, that is why, before even seeking his parent’s permission, Aftab speaks to Maham’s parents & lets them know about his intention of getting married to Maham. Almas knows that her son Parvez loves Maham because their grandmother got them engaged verbally. I think more than being concerned about what Almas’s mother in law said about Maham & Parvez’s marriage, Almas is a bit too interested in the things Maham will bring with her in dowry because Almas knows that Maham is the only daughter of Shafiq & Nusrat, plus they being at a good financial position in their lives will give their daughter everything they have, so she indirectly wants her son’s life to be settled through Maham.

The main issue arises when Almas gets a heed of the fact that Aftab is interested in Maham & she decides to put forth Parvez’s proposal for Maham too but Nusrat & Shafiq refuse to accept their proposal as they know that not only Maham is interested in Aftab but Aftab is definitely a better choice than Parvez. Even though Salma, Aftab’s mother doesn’t say a word but just the thought of the fact that her son will get married to her husband’s niece doesn’t sit well with her, that is why she decides to speak to Almas & tell her that they never asked for Maham’s hand in marriage for Aftab. Also, Salma tactfully tries to manipulate her son Aftab into thinking that his father’s unpredictable mood & nature may create some obstacles in his & Mahams’s marriage, whereas it is she who is thinking on those lines & not her husband because he seems pretty happy with Aftab’s choice of Maham as his life partner.

Almas takes her fixation & obsession with Maham & Parvez’s marriage a notch higher & decides to follow some rituals prescribed by the magician she goes to & that’s when Nusrat & Shafiq start to see a lot of difference & changes, not only in their lives but also in Maham’s behavior & attitude. It was sad to see a girl like Maham, so full of life & confident acting differently, where she doesn’t feel like herself & hates the feeling of being in her home. Even though Nusrat & Shafiq believe that Maham has recovered, but they are still unaware of the fact that Almas is carrying out those deadly & dangerous rituals on a regular basis.

To add more to their woes, Shahista, the younger sister of Ateeq & Shafiq comes from London only to push Almas’s agenda a bit more because she clearly is her well-wisher. No one in Shafiq’s family has a regard or respect for Nusrat only because of the fact that Shafiq got married to her because he loved her & that is something which even Shafiq’s mother was unhappy about. The seeds of hatred & jealousy against Nusrat were planted by Shafiq’s mother & now that she is gone, everyone is reaping what was sown in their hearts against Nusrat. Even though Parvez tells his mother that he doesn’t believe in these tricks or shortcuts but just because he accompanies her & is well-aware of what his mother is upto, he is just as much responsible & just as big of a culprit as his mother is. If Parvez had wanted, he would’ve strictly told his mother to stop with what she was trying to achieve but he not only turned a blind eye but chose to facilitate her greed & evilness by staying silent.

I must say, the first 4 episodes have laid a very solid foundation of what is yet to come & I am totally hooked to this show not only because it is different, but also because it has been done tastefully & appropriately, like nothing at this stage seems overdone or unrealistic. I must say, the story of this drama is something which a lot of people will relate to because this is something that is quite prevalent in our society & it is sad but it is the truth that women fall prey to these antics before men of the families do. The direction seemed to be perfect at this stage like there were no loopholes & everything was done pretty well. I must say, all the actors have done a brilliant job but Sakina Samo takes the cake, she is so convincing as Almas & I will also add that Sara Khan not only looks gorgeous, she has also done justice to her role as Maham in terms of acting. I like the fact that the cast of this drama is unconventional, like we are seeing some very new & fresh pairings & that makes things seem a lot more interesting. Fazila Qazi was phenomenal as Nusrat too, I had a great time watching her as a concerned mother who only wishes to protect her family against all the negativity of evil eye & black magic. I liked Shafiq’s character too, like it was good to see a father who believed in giving his daughter enough freedom to choose a life partner for herself & not only that, he also decided to stand by her daughter’s decision against all odds & family pressures. I am definitely looking forward to what’s in store for us & yes, I am totally impressed. Please share your thoughts if you have given Nazr e Bad a go.

Nazr e Bad Last Episode Review – Finally!

Ohkay so, these two were the most poorly directed episodes I have seen of any drama so far. Even though I know that I don’t have much know-how of the direction but just watching these episodes made me cringe because they were directed so poorly. I am not sure what the director was thinking while opting for shortcuts, it showed that he was told to push himself to the limit & then things completely went out of his control as even he couldn’t keep things ‘normal’. I think I have lost count of how many loopholes were there in these last two episodes, like it was so evident that the director himself lost the interest in this drama & just wanted to wrap it up halfheartedly. Considering these were the last episodes, the director should have put his heart & soul to end this drama properly but he just ended up cutting the corners in almost every single situation.

Even though I am glad that they didn’t opt for a different ending for Parvez but did everything make an impact? No! Nothing seemed to leave a mark or make an impact as it should have because they dragged the drama to such an extent that it completely lost the charm & also the purpose which the team had when they started off with this drama. There were so many situations which could’ve been avoided & the director could’ve added some coherence between the scenes to make things work but everything ended up looking like it was thrown together & was turned into an episode.

Parvez started facing the consequences, his mother was unwell, his sister got divorced & the youngest sister resorted to immorality. In the previous episode they showed that despite losing everything, everyone in Almas’s family didn’t change & were still being their nasty selves. Humera apologized to Nusrat but didn’t mean it. Parvez promised that he’d leave everything behind but still chose to listen to that psychotic 2 faced Baba & even brought his child for sacrificing, in order to please the other species. Even Almas didn’t reflect on the fact that everything her family was going through was a result of her own deeds. I think out of all the things they have shown, the sickest of them all was showing Humera conceiving a child with her ex-husband & then blaming it on her mother that she is responsible for what she was going through? Like seriously? This scenario could’ve been avoided & they could’ve just ended Humera’s track by showing that she got divorced & that’s it. To send her back & then to suggest that she fell pregnant after her divorce is sickening & disgusting to say the least!

Anyways, Maham was all over the place & to be honest, there was so much yelling in the last episode that I literally watched half of it on mute. I have seen worst dramas than Nazr e Bad but every time they ended, they didn’t disturb me but Nazr e Bad is an exception, not that it has anything to do with showing such a horrific ending of most of the characters but just the overall treatment that was given to all the situations, like it was so poorly directed that I actually felt I was wasting my time on it! Seeing Do Muh Wala Baba dancing on ‘Nainon Mai Sapna’ to smote himself during Parvez & Almas’s conversation was so amusing, like what changed in such a brief moment that he realized he was on a wrong path? It is amusing how he was sporting the ‘power of makeup’ trend throughout this drama, which Nikkitutorials started on YouTube, like now when I think of it, his entire presence in the drama didn’t contribute to the story in any way let alone his makeup!

So, I must say Almas’s paralysis was just as ‘convincing’ as the direction of this drama was, like I have never seen a patient suffering with paralysis being out & about like Almas. Almas not only visited Parvez in jail but hovered around Nusrat’s place & zuban to phir bhi ruki nahi! The funniest thing was using some other girl & putting a Naqaab/Veil on her to show her as Abeera? Like couldn’t they bring that actress in for that scene where she goes to meet her brother? Also, that scene didn’t seem necessary because Parvez wasn’t in contact with any of his family members & to see them visiting him one after another in jail was amusing, like how did they find out? Abeera was shown to be quite liberal with her dressing & styling to why would she resort to Naqaab in the first place?!?!?!

Shazia ended up rescuing Maham’s baby & in the next scene, Maham was seen hugging the wall in stead of her son? Anyways, the way Shazia howled over Parvez’s condition was disturbing, like in stead of worrying about Parvez’s life, she should be seeking forgiveness for driving her own sister to death! Anyways, Parvez died, Almas was left alone, Humera’s life was ruined & Abeera…whatever!

I just can not imagine that this turned out to be the fate of the drama that I couldn’t stop praising in the beginning. The director actually showed what he was capable of by directing the initial rather first half of the drama to perfection but not sure what went wrong in the end that everything ended up looking like a glitch & a work of a novice director. The writer had a complete grip on the story but even he lost the plot, I am sure this has everything to do with the producers because in this day & age, everyone is well aware of the fact how good dramas are dragged & stretched to make the most of the rating & the revenue it generates. I am sure the moment the producers meddled with the thought process of the writer & the director, that’s where the drama lost its charm & its purpose. I wish the producers had kept their greed aside & had allowed the creative people behind this drama to run its course because then it would’ve made such an impact & had conveyed the right message across. It was so evident that they even tried to make something out of Maham Parvez’s love story but after seeing the backlash, they decided to punish the culprit but when all of this was happening, the drama was losing its grip & no wonder why the direction went from being bad to worse! Even though they have ended the drama on a right note, the fact that they even considered showing someone like Parvez in a positive light goes to show what the producers these days can do for the sake of ratings, where they don’t care about what’s right or wrong & do not shy away from showing twisted things to sell their drama!!!

Sara Khan acted brilliantly throughout the drama, like she is an eye-candy so I am glad that she was a part of every other episode otherwise it would’ve become quite difficult to tune to Nazr e Bad. Fazila Qazi did a commendable job. Ali Abbas did well too. The supporting actors were good but that can’t be said about their characters. The only supporting character & actor that I enjoyed was of Aneesa/Hajra. Azfar Rehmanw was convincing as Parvez. Sakina Samo was good in the initial episodes but she became intolerable in the 2nd half. I remember when I used to watch this drama & everytime I would think about its ending, I always felt that I will end up praising it so much but now that it has ended, I am feeling meh, like I don’t think they delivered what they promised in the beginning, like by the end when Parvez was dying, I wasn’t even bothered to look at the TV screen as everything seemed annoying in stead of convincing or interesting but anyways, I am glad it is over & they did the right thing by showing Parvez & Co. reaching the end they actually deserved. Please share your thoughts about this journey called Nazr e Bad.

Nazr e Bad Episode 9 & 10 Review – Absolutely Incredible!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Nazr e Bad were again quite interesting but came with quite a few scary scenes too. I love how this drama has turned out to be such a complete package where it has a message, it shows all sorts of human emotions like jealousy, hatred, envy, sorrow & grief, it also has some family politics & most importantly it is dealing with the subject of black magic in a very appropriate & believable manner because nothing has been overdone & nothing has been over-dramatized to chip in the ratings. In fact, I feel they have kept things quite -subtle because I feel if they had taken it a notch higher, the faint-hearted me who watches this drama at night wouldn’t have been left with the courage to watch it anymore, so thumbs up for Team Nazr e Bad for making such an interesting drama & showing everything in such a convincing manner that it has become one such drama that I look forward to every single week & honestly, I find 2 episodes a bit too less!

So, Parvez continued to target Maham & Aftab’s new formed relationship & unfortunately, everything that Parvez was trying to achieve started happening because Aftab has become paranoid who can’t get the idea of Parvez & Maham being involved with each other out of his head. Even though Maham on her own is suffering too & she can’t find a solution to her problem because she also doesn’t want her mother or her family to stay concerned about her all the time, but looks like her fear has subsided & she has stopped feeling the discomfort that she used to feel when Parvez started off with his black magic. This time around it looked like Parvez directed all his black energies at Aftab because he knows that Maham might not leave him but Aftab can do that if he will continue to burden him & his soul.

I found it actually quite believable that Parvez made sure that Aftab faces some mishaps in his professional life too because that is something which actually becomes a bone of contention between a husband & wife as usually husbands get so entangled in their professional life issues that they don’t really pay much attention to their wives. This is exactly what happened that when Aftab learned about the robbery at his office, he called Maham & just because she received his call after a little while, he made an issue about it too. It seems that Aftab is now finding a reason to get agitated with Maham because he is not himself anymore & he has no control over his emotions.

This is exactly something that I had in my mind all this while too when I saw Shahista siding with Parvez & was trying to malign Maham’s reputation, like I would always think that why was she against Maham whereas she was just as much of an aunt to Maham as much she was to Parvez but the entire thing got revealed & it seemed quite convincing too. At first Shahista really took pride in the fact that just because she called Parvez to Maham’s home & reminded everyone about the friendship that Maham & Parvez shared, Aftab sent Maham back, but it was good that Nursat not only heard what she was saying but confronted Shahista as well. I felt really bad for Nusrat when I found her pleading in front of Shahista to not create further misunderstandings between Maham & her husband. Just because Nusrat disapproved of the guy Shahista was interested in before her marriage, Shahista was now making Maham face the brunt for it which actually was so mean & bizarre but most certainly believable because you never know what & how many grudges people can harbor in their hearts against you. I found Shahista quite shallow that just because she couldn’t get married to the one she loved, she was now after Maham because back in the day, Maham’s mother stood against Shahista’s wishes & didn’t allow her to get married to him.

So, finally Almas found out what her son was upto & even though she felt a little uncomfortable, she couldn’t say anything because she herself believes in such things & resorts to black magic thinking it will solve all of her problems. Almas’s gave Parvez a nod of approval just after confirming that whatever Parvez was doing would guarantee him Maham. What Parvez is doing at this stage is only because of Almas as she got him introduced to this dark world & she made him so immune to all of this that he doesn’t find anything odd. Almas made sure that Parvez nourishes Maham’s love in his heart & now when Maham didn’t reciprocate those feelings, he resorted to such extreme measures. They showed that Parvez was not only practicing black magic because he wanted Maham in his life, but he now turned it into a money-making business because being the only son, he had to take the role of a bread winner too. Almas & Parvez might think that things are shaping up for them but little do they know what this black magic would do to their lives!

Even though it came as a surprise but it was good to see Shahista realizing her mistakes & telling Parvez to forget Maham. Looks like Shahista has understood that everything that she was doing, especially to someone’s daughter could come & bite her in the future too because she has a daughter as well but Parvez gave her a reply which she wasn’t expecting. It seems that Shahista has also learned that Parvez is into black magic but I am waiting to see if she will inform Nusrat about it or not, I really wish she does because Nusrat wants a validation to the feeling she has always had about Almas & her family. I think this would be a huge favor that Shahista would do to Nusrat’s family & she should in order to redeem herself.

I will say I loved the note at which the 2nd episode ended, like they showed that Parvez was trying to cast magic on Maham but because she was offering prayers, Parvez couldn’t do anything & was shocked as to why his magic wasn’t working. It subtly highlighted the importance of prayers & being in touch with your spiritual & religious side because every time someone complains about these things, those who do the spiritual healing tell the affected people to hold strongly onto the Holy Qur’an & Prayers. In the initial episodes, they also showed that when Maham started feeling uncomfortable because of Almas’s amulets & practices, every time Nusrat would recite Holy Qur’an while being on her side, Maham would feel better & normal again. I really think the writer & the director should be commended for maintaining a balanced approach where they have not only shown that black magic is powerful & the evil is winning over. Even though they are showing that right now just because Nusrat’s family hasn’t put the finger on what actually is the root cause of the problems that Maham & Aftab are facing but I am sure once that will be revealed, they will definitely show the power of Holy Qur’an, Prayers & everything related to it in comparison to black magic, but yes, I will once again say that so far they have dealt with the entire subject brilliantly & for that the entire team of Nazr e Bad deserves a lot of appreciation!

Overall, I had a great time watching the episodes of Nazr e Bad this week, even though this drama deals with darkness & the widespread evil but it gives me enough reasons every week to tune to it the next time because everything that has been showed so far is quite convincing & realistic. The first 10 episodes of Nazr e Bad have been quite amazing & the story has been revealed brilliantly, I just hope they keep their game strong right till the end & turn it into a memorable drama which conveyed a strong message to the viewers & showed how getting involved in these prohibited things ruin the lives & the families. I will say I feel bad for both Aftab & Maham because they have no idea why they are facing so many issues at such an early stage of the marriage. Also, I can’t stand Aftab’s mother, like she is that bitter lifeless woman for no good reason who is finding solace in seeing her daughter in law & her son suffer. I love Nusrat’s character, like the way she feels for her daughter & goes out of the way to make sure her daughter isn’t dealing with any unnecessary pressure goes to show what a mother is capable of & what she can do when it comes to her children. I am not too thrilled with Abreea/Ahmer track, I am sure Nusrat won’t approve & I really hope Ahmer doesn’t wage a war against his mother for Abeera’s sake, like this entire family has caused enough stress in their lives, so Nusrat shouldn’t deal with anything anymore. I will say all the actors especially Fazila Qazi, Sakina Samo, Ali Abbas, Sara Khan & Azfar Rehman have done a commendable job, they have made their characters quite realistic & believable & can I also add how gorgeous & beautiful Sara Khan looks!!! I can’t wait for the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Nazr e Bad.

Nazr e Bad Episode 7 & 8 Review – The Consequences!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Nazr e Bad were quite interesting & had a lot of development to their credit. I love how all the characters are getting equal coverage & their ordeals are being shown in a very detailed manner. So far I believe they have stayed true to the message that they had in mind, which is letting your ego get the better of you, & I wish the drama right till the end doesn’t lose its impact. I must say, I like this drama for the fact that it has some scary scenes too but yes, that means I am not watching this drama alone anymore, haha. Even though I am good with the scary & horror movies but this one scares me like anything. :/

So, despite all the odds, Maham & Aftab got married. I liked the fact that Aqmal took a wise decision & hurried in this marriage because he knew that misunderstandings were ruining this relationship. I actually thought that Aftab would stand by his wife’s side through thick & thin but as the story progressed, it looks like he is going to act like a typical husband who will only find faults in his wife & will believe everything that he will be told by his mother. Considering that Aftab got married to Maham after falling in love with her & he literally stood by his decision, I was expecting better from him, especially in the matter where he would give his wife the time to adjust & would deal with her with a lot of patience. The way Aftab was reacting just a few days after marriage made it look like he has been married to Maham for years & the novelty has worn off!

So, the first consequence that Parvez had to face for getting involved in black magic was losing his father & what’s sad that was Shamsi Chacha didn’t let him go to the funeral because he knew this was the moment to test Parvez & to know what he is made of. Parvez chose to fall prey to everything that Shamsi told him, using Maham’s name & since he is so blinded by his one sided love, he stayed back. Everything that Humera said to Nusrat was meaningless, she conveniently blamed Nusrat for her father’s death but then again, I really hope one day she finds out that it was the price that their entire family had to pay for the things Parvez was doing.

To be honest I find Shahista’s character quite annoying. Yes, it is alright to have compassion for your family members & your nieces & nephews but then how can she be so shameless that even after Maham has gotten married, she is helping Parvez to instill the seed of doubt in Aftab’s heart against Maham? Maham is just as much of a niece to Shahista as much as Parvez is her nephew, but to see an aunt literally planning & plotting to ruin her niece’s married life is something intolerable. For a moment I also believed that Parvez’s apology was heartfelt & he was actually trying to score some brownie points in front of Maham’s parents but I didn’t know he was only putting up a show that too on Shahista’s suggestion. That entire scene was quite amusing later when it was exposed that it was only an act.

Salma really needs to accept Maham, yes, it is quite evident that she doesn’t like Maham but to create misunderstandings in such an early stage of marriage goes to show how lifeless she is. All her conversations with her ‘friend’ were absolutely boring yet amusing at the same time. To tell Maham to dress up like a newly wedded girl & then telling Aftab that she was showing no remorse over losing her Taya was a bit too much. The way Aftab believes everything that his mother says & doesn’t allow Maham to speak makes me think this marriage is already doomed. Maham has tried to come clean a lot of times regarding the misunderstanding about her & Parvez being involved in a relationship but looks like Aftab has brain-fed himself into believing that what Maham is saying isn’t true, that is why he seems indifferent to her already.

The scene where Maham spotted the piece of meat was scary, her reaction was believable & it was good that at least in stead of keeping it to herself, she decided to share it with her mother. Nusrat is right in feeling that this is something that Almas’s family is capable of. I really think Nusrat should leave this place, like she should convince her husband to move out because everything that is happening isn’t healthy for her family. I had a good laugh seeing Abeera making a pass at Ahmer, like her father has just died but she has moved on & on the other hand, Maham is being reminded of her Taya’s death time & again & is being told to act like she is mourning the loss of a relative!

All the scenes which showed Parvez carrying out the rituals were scary like anything. Shamsi finally died & he passed on his entire asset; his knowledge to Parvez, it made him feel empowered but little does he know what he is doing with his life. It is actually scary that Parvez himself has seen the life Shamsi has lived & the death he has died, still he is perfectly alright with everything. Parvez’s friend is equally responsible for what Parvez is doing because now he has told him to start making money on it by turning it into a business & Parvez is obviously going to follow his instructions because it is an easy way to make the money plus he literally doesn’t have a mind of his own!

Overall, this drama has been quite an interesting ride. What they are showing is a true depiction of what is happening these days & these things are far more prevalent in our society than we can imagine. The acting of all the actors & the direction of this drama has been really strong. The story has been conveyed convincingly. They also touched upon the fact how daughters in law are held accountable & responsible for any mishaps in the family, like this mindset is also so dominant in our society which definitely needs to be changed. So far all the actors have been quite impressive in their performances & the main leads, Sara Khan, Ali Abbas & Azfar Rehman are doing an amazing job! Definitely looking forward to the next couple of episodes. Please share your thoughts about these episodes of Nazr e Bad.

Nazr e Bad Episode 5 & 6 Review – So Far So Good!

Ohkay so, these 2 episodes of Nazr e Bad were quite interesting. I really must say that the approach of the writer & the director has been spot on & every single concept or event that they are showing has so much reality embedded in it that you just don’t feel that you are being shown things for the sake of drama. The way the story has unfolded so far goes to show the grip that the writer has on the script. The only fear I have while watching this drama is that usually & mostly 9PM dramas tend to slow down & lose the pace after a number of episodes, so I really hope that isn’t the case with Nazr e Bad. I think if they will slow everything down & will continue to focus on the negativity that Parvez is instigating then this drama will become a little too depressing to watch, so let’s hope they keep things short & to the point!

These episodes pretty much revolved around Maham & Aftab’s marriage & the proposal. While everyone in Maham’s family was happy that Maham was finally going to get engaged, Almas’s family was doing everything in their might to stop that from happening. Almas believes in doing things stealthily whereas Shahista takes the front foot & tries to manipulate things her way. Almas & Shahista have become a formidable team & sadly, Nusrat has no one to her rescue. Sadly even Salma is not thrilled with the idea of Aftab & Maham’s marriage but what’s irritating about her is that she never openly says anything about it, but tries to manipulate her son & her husband to talk them out of this proposal.

Even though I quite didn’t understand why Aqmal was so bent on having Maham around when he came to propose Maham for Aftab but later when he had a conversation with Maham, I then realized that he wanted to be sure because even he was having some doubts in his mind about the rumors of link up between Maham & Parvez. At first I thought that may be Maham won’t be able to speak up because she will be shocked with what she was hearing from her uncle but it was good that she shared her decision that how she wanted to get married to Aftab & not Parvez.

Parvez friend or shall I say his enemy got him in contact with a magician who he thinks can make anything possible. At first, the magician tried to test Parvez as he wanted to see how eager he was but then even though he took Parvez into training, he made sure to get Parvez familiar will all sorts of consequences that he will have to face once he will touch this darkest dimension. The magician showed Parvez the sufferings of his wife & his adopted son & without beating around the bush, he came clean by telling that these are the consequences he is facing for being involved in black magic but just because Parvez is blinded by his obsession with Maham, he didn’t budge & persisted the man to teach him everything that might bring Maham into his life. I think more than the magician wants to help Parvez, he is actually trying to find peace for himself because like he said, this magic doesn’t let one die unless & until the practitioner passes it on to someone. Parvez definitely has emerged as a stooge who is ready to succeed the magician that is why he is teaching him everything to make himself scot-free! I must say all those scenes where they showed Parvez trying his hands on the magic were intense, scary & disturbing but were quite realistic because for the magicians, their first ever playground is usually the graveyard!

Almas decided to speak to Aftab & plant a seed of doubt in his heart against Maham & she was successful in her attempt. It was for the first time that Nusrat lost her calm & decided to tell both Shahista & Almas off. I really don’t understand when Nusrat has seen what Almas is capable of, especially after the amulet that she discovered in Maham’s room, why doesn’t she convince her husband to move to some other place where her family can live in peace & away from Almas & her antics. The way Ateeq reacted on Maham & Aftab’s news was quite amusing, like who is so obsessed with getting their loser son married to a girl who deserves so much better that they end up throwing tantrums at those who choose something better for their daughter?

Aftab’s reaction was something that Maham couldn’t cope up with because she had no explanation & no reasoning to make him understand why she hid the fact from him that Maham was the girl Parvez was in love with. Last week when Maham decided to keep it a secret from Aftab, that was when I knew that this is most certainly going to create a rift between the two. It was good that despite Salma’s attempt of talking him out of his decision, Aqmal chose to stick with his word & decided to have a conversation with Aftab where he could put things into perspective. Aqmal knows that Almas & Shahista are upto no good & they will do everything to create misunderstanding between the two families, that is why he made Aftab realize that he shouldn’t pay heed to all these rumors & should have faith in what Allah has chosen for him. I will say, that father son conversation was definitely the best part of the episode.

Overall, these two episodes were pretty good & so far the way things have been tackled, I am definitely looking forward to what is yet to come. Sadly, Parvez’s family will start seeing the consequences of Parvez’s doings but Parvez still won’t stop because he is so bent on achieving his target, I can’t even begin to imagine when he will stop & at what cost? All the actors performed brilliantly in these episodes too, so far everyone has made their characters seem very realistic & relate-able. All the actors have owned their characters & that is why the chemistry between all of them makes them seem like an actual family dealing with different issues. The direction has been pretty good so let’s hope things continue with the same pace. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Nazr e Bad.

Nazr e Bad Episode 37 Review – Waste of Time!

Ohkay so, this episode of Nazr e Bad was all over the place. Not sure why are they digging the old graves & showing the flashbacks of those scenarios which have nothing to do with the story & its development. The fact that they didn’t air the 2nd episode this week & turned that episode into a recap shows that are not left with much content & are just aiming for a higher number of episodes. This drama should’ve ended weeks ago but it is such a shame that the team is still bent on stretching the story to the limit only to cross the 40th episode mark. What a shame I say!

So, Parvez is suffering but is he really suffering? I don’t think so. All that has happened in his life is that he hasn’t returned to his home & has been captured by that businessman? Seriously, is this punishment enough for him? I don’t think so. Parvez after trying his hands on being a good guy got bored of it & now wanted Baba to help him get his powers back. Also, I am not sure if anyone else has noticed but I just can’t stand the way Azfar says BaVa in stead of Baba. This episode had a lot of Parvez’s breakdowns which I found worth forwarding. It is good that Maham has drawn a line & she is not forgiving him. Not sure what Abeera was doing with that businessman, like I think it would’ve made sense if they had shown some time lapse, may be a span of a month or two, for things to come together & make sense because as far as we know, Abeera got rejected by Ahmer just yesterday & the next day she was with that businessman who said she is more than just a friend? Also, not sure why that businessman is involving Parvez in his personal affairs, like he wants Parvez to rescue his building for him so then why is he introducing him to his girlfriend(s)?

Ahmer won the lottery & it guaranteed some security to Maham to get her son treated. Aftab came to meet Maham, I can see they are going to send Maham back to Aftab because there’s no other reason why he is hovering around her & her house without a purpose. Babar also sent some gifts & cash to his mother, suggesting that things are shaping up for Nusrat which is good!

Almas got injured because of the ceiling that fell on her, I thought she won’t be able to survive but Almas being Almas, she miraculously did & only got a bruise on her forehead & chin, whereas her skull was may be made of steel that nothing happened to it. So, Humera’s secret got exposed & her husband sent her home for good, good to see that but again, the way they showed Humera going back to her ex-husband was sickening & so not needed!

I just don’t get what was the need of showing Shazia’s flashback with her sister? Like now that she was out of touch with Parvez, the director still wanted to keep her in the picture so he showed her crying out of guilt of being the reason behind her sister’s death, but then again, that scene & in fact Shazia’s character doesn’t contribute to the story in any way so not sure why she is getting so much of coverage! Same goes with Do Muh Wala Baba, his Kathak Dance in front of a million eggs was senseless, like I remember in the beginning all these sort of scenes had so much of an impact that I felt I couldn’t watch this drama alone but now when such scenes are unfolding I am looking at them as if I am watching a kid’s movie.

Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Nazr e Bad.

Nazr e Bad Episode 35 36 Review – Ending Seems Promising Now!

Ohkay so, just when I was completely losing hope in this drama, the 2nd episode of this week restored my faith in it a bit because it showcased that the team was now headed in the right direction where they were now clearly thinking about showing the consequences of Parvez & Almas’s deeds. Having said that I will still speak about the loss of plot in quite a lot of tracks because they are still heavily relying on different characters to fill in the 38-40 minutes of an episode.

Aftab to acha khasa tha, achanak usay kya ho gaya? This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw Aftab behaving oddly, but then again, it was suggested that he was under the influence of magic that Almas was directing at him because she wanted Abeera to get married to him, hence his behavior. I think out of all the things that Abeera has done, the only thing that is worth appreciating is that she chose to disclose her mother’s secret & told Salma the truth about Almas being a magician. Aqmal thought that just because Abeera didn’t want to get married to Aftab, she was fabricating a lie but then Salma seemed double minded & partially convinced at what she heard. I think now they should also show Salma & Aqmal putting two & two together & coming to the conclusion that everything that they endured when Aftab was married to Maham was also a result of Almas & Parvez’s magic.

I thought that Shazia was gone for good but she was brought back to drag the drama. It was amusing how out of all the people in the world, Shazia was the one who was stumbling upon Parvez. Shazia’s claim ‘tum mujhe qabr se bhi bulaoge to mai aa jaoongi’ made me nod my head in affirmation, because seeing the level of desperation this girl has shown, I won’t be surprised if she will open up her grave & crawl back to Parvez. In the race of Desperadoes, Shazia has left Jeena far behind!

Oh well, I see Nida Yasir & Sanam Jung calling different beauty experts in their morning shows to help girls with their skin & face issues, but I guess they should forget about everyone & invite Azfar Rehman because where he had dark circles in one scene, they were miraculously gone the next moment & not only that, he had a bright face that Ayesha Sana dreams of & rosy pink lips, so I am sure he has a lot of amazing beauty tips to share with the girls! It was quite amusing how the director didn’t pay attention to all these details because now it is quite evident that even he is not too keen on using his energies to give this drama a decent end. Things are being dragged as per the orders of the producers & the director is just going with the flow, which by the way is actually missing from the scenes of Nazr e Bad.

I just don’t understand where they put so much of effort, why didn’t they bother shooting the scenes which were actually needed to add depth & logic in the story? Abeera & Salma’s conversation was one scene that should’ve been shown & the most important scene was Nusrat stumbling upon Parvez’s secret but they just didn’t show it? All of a sudden we got to see Nusrat informing Maham that Parvez is a magician? How did Nusrat get to know because all these days, she was seen standing by the door pane or fixing the bed-sheet of different beds, so such an important moment & it was just casually covered in a conversation? In stead of showing Maham frantically running around because her kid was sound asleep, they should’ve paid more attention on shooting the scenes that were necessary, like we all have waited so long for this to happen & when it happened, nothing made an impact!?!

Anyways, I am actually quite glad that they hit the bullseye by showing Maham’s conversation with Molvi Sahab, who not only translated the Ayah of Holy Quran, also explained its meaning & told Maham to end her relationship with Parvez with an immediate effect. I am glad that they decided to throw that analogy out of the window that Parvez is a good husband & just because he will seek Allah’s forgiveness, he will be forgiven. These things make a lot of sense in real life but when it comes to a drama, such sort of stories are written with an intention of imparting a message to those who tune to it, so it was actually very important to show Parvez receiving a severe punishment for all of his wrongdoings because this is exactly what happens with those who like Molvi Sahab said, try to interfere in Allah’s Affairs & like Nusrat said, wage war against Allah & His Word. I am glad that the team of Nazr e Bad chose this direction for the ending because not every other drama is meant to be a ‘romantic love story’ & not every other character deserves a happy ending. I am glad that Maham learned the truth about Parvez & immediately realized that everything that went wrong in her life was because of him. It was sad that Maham was blaming herself because obviously what she learned shook her to no end, so her reaction seemed quite natural & realistic.

Humera also got divorced & it was quite stupid of Almas to tell her to fake a pregnancy to save her marriage? Ohkay, the fact is that she wasn’t pregnant & she got divorced so how could Almas encourage her daughter to live with a man who is na-mehram for her? Almas was panicky because things were slipping out of her hands but then again, to see a mother giving such sort of advice to her daughter was ridiculous. Almas got paralysis attack & it was good that Nusrat gave her a piece of her mind. I am glad that Nusrat declared she won’t be forgiving Almas, this is exactly what should happen!

Oh well, the preview of the next episode showed Do Muh Wala Baba again, I thought he died & was a water under the bridge but I guess he was brought back to give one final ‘Kathak Class’ to Parvez before the show ends. The preview also showed Ahmer winning a lottery which depicts happy times & secure future for Nusrat & her entire family. I guess now they will show Maham & Aftab’s reconciliation as well because that’s the only logic I see behind bringing Aftab back in the story. Even though the direction of the drama has gone really bad, like it is ridiculously poor but the fact that the story has started making sense & the team is headed in the right direction, I am ready to ignore all those glaring mistakes. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Nazr e Bad.

Nazr e Bad Episode 33 & 34 Review – Waste of Time!

Ohkay so, I never imagined that this drama’d go from being perfect to a complete waste of time. It has turned into a perfect example of khichri gone bad which smells really bad to add more to it. I just don’t understand what the makers are achieving by dragging this drama to this extent? Yes, it is obvious that they might be generating more ratings & revenues but they could’ve done that by at least making some sense because now the story of Nazr e Bad has turned into a family politics saga & it is cringe-worthy. I have been pushed to such a limit where for the first time I even thought of not tuning to this drama anymore as it isn’t offering what it should have by now!

Honestly speaking, in the promo this week when I saw that Maham would stumble upon Shazia, Parvez & Do Muh Wala Baba, I didn’t really get excited as I knew nothing will happen as Maham has been acting like a mentally challenged person who can not even put two & two together & this is exactly what happened. I mean what can be expected from a girl who still hasn’t found out that Jadu Tona is happening under her nose as she acts like her nose is blocked. In stead of questioning Parvez about Do Muh Wala Baba & being more curious about what he was doing there, Maham was more concerned about Shazia & decided to part ways with Parvez, only to drag the episode & in order to return to him after his pleading. I am getting sick of all these pathetic characters now because they once had something going on but now all of them look like bunch of weirdos with not much life in them. I am sick of Nusrat & her glycerin resultant tears. Just when Maham wants to take a stand for herself, there comes Nusrat with her bechargi to weaken Maham & to remind her that she ain’t any good without a tag of a useless husband.

Abeera got way more coverage & it was so obvious that the director used her to stretch the episodes. Abeera wants Ahmer & Almas wants Abeera to get married to Aftab. Just when Nusrat intervened & Ahmer backed out, Abeera agreed with the idea of getting married to Aftab, like seriously. Also, I think the director/writer is using this entire Jadu Tona bit as per convenience because every time the characters stop making sense, it is suggested that they are under the influence of magic & this is exactly what happened in Abeera’s case too. Just a couple of days ago she was throwing red roses on Ahmer like a cheap desperado & just when I was rolling my eyes at how easily she agreed to get married to Aftab, it was hinted that it was only because Almas used some magic to convince her daughter!?!?! Duh!!!

I am getting sick of Sakina Samo first & then Almas. Yes, when the drama began Sakina Samo was nailing Almas’s character but now it gets annoying to watch a million mean expressions on her face, like she is overdoing everything. Her acting is just as bad as her character. Also, I hate the fact that Almas is getting so much of screen-time that too when all she does is yell like a psycho loon! Her conversation with Salma was long for no good reason. Yes, she is trying to fix Abeera & Aftab’s wedding but then again, it is only because of Sakina Samo that it is getting hard to tolerate this character on screen. Also, I am tired of Salma & her amman-pan too, like I find myself cringing really bad whenever that pakki aunty is on-screen!!!

Just when Shazia had the chance to tell Maham the truth, she chose to leave the city & move away from Parvez. What a waste of our time & waste of another character. Seriously, the writer has lost the plot completely because if we take a look back at Shazia’s character, the screen-time that she got & the ending that her character met, doesn’t it look like they wasted our time because her character was good-for-nothing & she proved it by walking away quietly burying Parvez’s secret in her heart!?!?! If we take a look back, all the characters, almost all of those who were added or brought back in the later stages of the story were used only to stretch it & they served no purpose at all. Aneesa, Abeera, Policeman that blackmailed Parvez, Do Muh Wala Baba, Shazia & even Aftab they all only stretched the drama & didn’t contribute to the story in any positive way! I really thought that Aftab will come back with some important role to play but looks like he has only made a come back to showcase his new collection of coats & colorful pants!

So, Maham finally had a baby & he turned out to be physically challenged. I am not too sure what the writer here is trying to convey? Like I don’t feel a thing for Parvez & even Maham but then again, if I take a look at Maham’s life, is it her fault that a mentally sick, twisted psycho like Parvez fell in love with her because she has only been at the losing end because of him that too when she didn’t do anything wrong in the first place? Maham lost the love of her life, she lost her baby, she got divorced, her parents got divorced, then even after getting married to Parvez she lost her baby once & the one that she had turned out to be physically challenged, like so many trials & troubles for Maham only whereas the one who is responsible for EVERYTHING is moving around scot-free with no conscience & no consequences? This imbalanced, one-dimensional & ridiculously pathetic approach & thought process of the writer is questionable where he has conveniently held the ‘man’ free from facing the brunt & the ‘woman’ is typically putting up with everything that too when she is in the dark about her husband’s reality & hasn’t done absolutely ANYTHING to deserve this sort of life. Where the writer should’ve showed that it was Parvez who suffered the consequences, he has used Maham as a punching bag, as a puppet & has deteriorated her character & life from bad to worse!

I don’t really think a few hiccups in Parvez’s life where his car breaks down or his ATM stops working are enough of a punishment for a psycho murderer like him. I find it actually quite amusing because the writer makes it so obvious that he didn’t feel like punishing Parvez but just for the sake of it he broke his car down to show that he is also going through ‘some’ hardships. Shedding a few tears at the loss of his child & then the fact that his son won’t be able to walk is not enough!!!

I must say even though they used this entire aspect to make us feel something but Allah Maaf Karain I ended up laughing when they suggested that Shafeeq passed away, like it is so amusing that they once again tried to bring in another character to add a scene or two & just when they couldn’t find a place for him in the current situation of the story, they decided to use him as a deceased to fill the 40 minute of the episode, lol! At first, I didn’t really mind the direction mistakes as I was too focused on how perfect & realistic the approach of the team was in conveying such a story but now that everything has derailed, I can’t stop noticing all the loopholes & flaws. I remember it was I guess ‘Tricksy’, the regular commenter who once pointed out how the editor joins all the different frames & turns them into one scene which at first I didn’t really mind but in these two episodes this aspect stood out like a sore thumb because everything seemed like a bad ‘cut paste’ job. I don’t really understand what the director was trying to achieve by shooting different shots of different characters & putting everything together to make it look like one scene as it clearly seems choppy & way too weird. Different backgrounds & even the expressions of the actors as if they are looking at a wall while acting the scenes out suggest that this drama was directed by a novice director!

I really think they should end this drama as soon as possible because even though I don’t want to use this word, it surely has turned into a ‘crap’. I think it was my bad that I expected something good from this team & thought they will make the ending as strong as the beginning of this drama. I remember the time when I used to defend this drama but now I feel they didn’t deserve it. Yes, I definitely knew that this drama will definitely lose its pace once it will cross the 30 episode mark because that’s what usually happens with 9PM dramas but then again, they could’ve used all these episodes in showing Parvez paying the price for his crimes & sins but they didn’t & this is their biggest mistake. I have completely lost interest in this drama & it has come to such a point where I dread tuning to it & even when I am watching it, I am focusing more on other things around me as this drama doesn’t capture my interest anymore. Nazr e Bad Episode 31 & 32 Review – Ridiculously Boring!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Nazr e Bad were ridiculously boring & served no purpose at all. I miss the time when I used to praise this drama so much because I actually felt that the team deserved it for such a perfect portrayal but after that, everything has gone wrong & it is so obvious that they are just making the most of the ratings that they are getting. I really don’t get what they are achieving by adding such twists & turns which actually do not affect the story in any positive way, like I believe if they wanted to drag & stretch the drama, they could’ve done that as well by showing Parvez’s downfall too, exactly how they showed him succeeding in the first half of the drama, but even that doesn’t seem to be happening because all of a sudden, the writer has developed this sympathy with this character that he doesn’t feel like punishing him!

Well, just because Maham is bored & has nothing to do except wandering around her house, she wants a baby. I don’t remember cringing so hard during any conversation in this drama than this but then again I was like she is demanding a baby from a magician so he will make it happen in a jiffy & that’s exactly what happened, the news of the baby was signed sealed & delivered the next day. Ohkay fine, if she wants a happy & ‘complete’ married life that is not an issue but what bothered me the most is that Maham even after finding out that Parvez doesn’t work for Yazdani’s anymore, didn’t say anything even though she wanted to. In the beginning they showed us Maham as someone who believed in transparency, so what has happened now? Also, thanks to her Amman Nusrat who said that a husband doesn’t like if his wife pokes her nose in his professional matters, lol, seriously what century is this? Also chalo, if Maham was shown as an uneducated girl, it would’ve made sense but she is not only educated, she even once wanted to do a job to support herself & now again she is back to zero, with no brains, no backbone & probably no aim in life!

So Parvez got a big project where he has to rescue the building. In these two episodes, I even found the scenes to be so long & never-ending as if they were just trying to reach the 40 minute mark by hook or by crook. Every other conversation, every other scene was unnecessarily long & seemed unedited, like Parvez’s meeting with his new boss, his magic rituals & even the scenes of every single family member, everything was stretched beyond limit. Also, I am not sure why all of a sudden, the characters who looked like humans have been replaced with the characters who seem like caricatures, are they seriously trying to throw in some comedy or are trying to make things light-hearted by showing such characters where they assume that people are going to laugh at them? The boss was another failed attempt of that.

So, since they were too tired to think about adding new characters & creating new scenarios, they brought back Abeera & even Aftab. Aftab didn’t get much coverage but Abeera is another sick attempt of dragging the drama. I just can’t emphasize enough on how much I ‘hated’, yes, I don’t usually use this word but I ‘hated’ when they played a soft melodic music at the background when Abeera BHABHI was shamelessly making advances at Ahmer DEVAR. I don’t think this track needed to be rekindled & even after they have done it, it doesn’t seem to be serving any purpose at all except beghaiarti. I just can’t stand Ahmer as well, Abeera is another case but I can’t stand how weak & stupid Ahmer becomes every time Abeera nagin hisses at him, it’s like he gets hypnotized & can’t seem to think straight. It won’t be a surprise if Ahmer will ask Nusrat’s permission to get married to Abeera, because that will guarantee them a couple of episodes more, so yay for them!

Shazia & her Parvez-nama, seriously I am sick of this character too. I just hate the way the writer has turned all these ladies into desperadoes & mindless bimbos & the have shown Parvez as the only sane & the best character in this entire lot of mad people. What a beautiful message the writer has given through this drama, where he is elaborating more on the cliché which is ‘larkon ko sab maaf hai’, be it magic or murder! So, Shazia doesn’t get tired by mentioning it again & again that she can go to any extreme for Parvez, oh well, someone throw her out of my TV please!

These two episodes of Nazr e Bad were boring & unimpressive. It is so obvious that they are not going to end this drama anytime soon & even if we will get an ending, it will be a ridiculous one because the damage has been done & I don’t expect any sanity from the team of Nazr e Bad anymore. The preview suggested that Maham will lose her baby & I am sure they will use this as an eye-opener for Parvez where he will vow to leave magic & everything behind & will start afresh with Maham, getting a happy ending, huh! What a waste of time! Anyways, please share your thoughts about these two ridiculous episodes of Nazr e Bad!

Nazr e Bad Episode 29 & 30 Review – Thoroughly Disappointing!

Ohkay so, first things first, I will congratulate the team of Nazr e Bad for reaching the 30 episode mark, but I don’t say it because I actually intend to praise their work or their approach, I am saying this with sheer sarcasm because this is what they wanted to achieve & they did it, without even bothering if things were making sense or not or if the story had the charm that it used to have in the beginning or not! I really feel so disappointed with this rating-hungry & profit-generating approach of our drama makers where they just set their minds to a certain number of episodes & then do everything in their might to reach it, without even bothering if the essence of the drama is intact or not. Every single week I tune to Nazr e Bad expecting it to be better thinking that the team of this drama might restore my faith in it but I am disappointed every single time because no, at this point, I think all they care about is dragging the drama & stretching it like a chewing gum, even if the story is making any sense or not!

Last week, when they showed a police officer in the preview who had the documents of Parvez & Aneesa’s contract marriage with him, I thought that will be the end of Parvez & that policeman will do everything to give him the punishment that he deserves but sadly, he was just another pawn, another character added to drag the drama & push the ending further. They have time & again thrown in so many characters that were so not needed but it has been made clear that they are just using these short-lived characters to stretch the drama so that they can buy themselves some time to throw in more episodes. First Aneesa, then Do Muh Wala Baba, now this Police Officer & in this episode, they spoke about some Islamic Scholar who will rescue Parvez, so I think this drama won’t be ending before 40 episodes!

So, Shazia’s sister died & in stead of crying buckets over her sister’s death & in stead of cursing herself for being the reason behind her sister’s death, Shazia being a low-life that she is, was more worried about Parvez & was thinking about ways to rescue his sorry existence. Seriously, every time I see that worry-stricken face of Shazia, I cringe so hard because she is lifeless, absolutely lifeless, a girl who has zero direction in life & has no purpose whatsoever. Shazia’s fixation with Parvez is sickening & puke-worthy. Also, I am not sure why she loves to spend time with Do Muh Wala Baba, like any sane girl in her right state of mind would run at the sight of him but she chooses to be around him & take care of him like his servant, well what else can you expect from a girl of her caliber who has no purpose in life whatsoever. Also, not sure why does she visit Do Muh Wala Baba so often, may be out of sheer boredom, she has assigned herself as his makeup artist, that is why she visits him everyday & stays there till midnight just in case he needs some touch ups, because other than that there’s no reason for her to be around him!

To be honest, the sympathy that I had for Nusrat’s character all this while ended in these two episodes. Firstly, I hate her helpless-sober attitude, because even Allah doesn’t help those who don’t want to help themselves & another reason being her baseless lectures to Maham on how she should do everything to save her marriage by staying quiet & ignoring Almas’s jadu tona too because according to Nusrat, even if they were sinners & what not, they were Maham’s family, like seriously! That entire conversation was so off-putting & it somehow showcased the thought process of the writer where he was trying to justify Almas & Parvez’s deeds by highlighting the fact that people can & should show acceptance to these types of family members who are involved in these kinds of things, because hey by the end of the day, they’re a family & you can’t just hate them for who they are! Wow!!!

I just didn’t understand why Nusrat was riling up at Maham just because she spoke to Almas directly & tried to show her a mirror by mentioning her wrongdoings. Seriously, it was Nusrat who brain-fed Maham all her life against Almas being the one with Nazr e Bad & now that Maham has herself spotted Almas doing some weird rituals, Nusrat wants to shush Maham up? Why!!!???!!! To be honest, in the scene where Almas was hitting Nusrat, I was actually feeling this weird kind of satisfaction because Nusrat has turned herself into a doormat, so it doesn’t matter who treats her in what way because she is ready to accept any sort of treatment since she is a bechari, a sober, a crier, so why not!!!

The entire story that Parvez tried to sell in front of Maham about this ‘saya’ was so bizarre & what’s even more bizarre was that Maham actually bought it. Maham’s character has derailed completely & she doesn’t make much sense anyways. Maham is being used as a beautiful show-piece who adds visual pleasure to the eyes because other than that, her character has no personality, has no stand, has no brains & has nothing going for her. In my opinion, Shazia as stupid as she might be, is far better than Maham because she at least has a thought process even if it revolves around a stinky human being like Parvez but still, she has set her mind to something, unlike Maham who is unable to sort out the mess of her life!

Parvez is not ready to give up on black magic because he lied to Maham & then he contacted his friend to bring him some assignments where he could make money to give it to the police officer. I am not too sure what the writer is trying to portray by showing Parvez in a dire situation, it’s like he is clarifying Parvez’s image that he himself doesn’t want to do black magic now but just because the police officer asked him for money, he has no other choice than to resort to it, like seriously? I am amazed (read sick) at the way the writer is trying to clarify Parvez’s image & how he is trying to justify the things Parvez does or has done till date. The introduction of the new character who will set Parvez free in the upcoming episodes also seems like a writer’s attempt to renew Parvez’s character where he will turn him into a completely new, sin-free & black-magic free person who would’ve never wronged anyone in life & who will now lead a happy nappy life with his lady love Maham!!! The way the characters have been added & different situations have been shown, it looks like the writer is trying hard to make the viewers forget everything that Parvez has done so far, like he wants to fizzle out the memories of Parvez’s wrongdoings, so that in the end when he will turn Parvez into a hero, people won’t remember what he actually did in the beginning!

The latest happenings in Nazr e Bad reminded me of Mohabbat Aag Si, where it turned into a wreck too & the ending that the villain got was totally unconvincing that even after destroying peace of her family members, the character of Apa died a peaceful death that too in the state of Sajda. I am sure this is exactly what the writer will do with Parvez’s character too where he will turn him into a completely innocent soul who will bid farewell to his black magic, will be forgiven everything that he has done & will have a happy ending. My hopes in this drama have shattered completely, like I was expecting that by this stage they will at least show that Maham found out about who Parvez was & what he has done but the way the writer has turned her character into a bholi majj (innocent cow), I am sure that will never happen & she will live happily ever after with her lawn suits that Parvez will buy for her with his haram ki kamai! Also, writer ne Nusrat ke through mohar to laga hi di hai ke 2 shadiyaan toot gain to Maham pe zindagi bhar ka ilzaam aa jayega, so I am sure she will stay married to Parvez till the end! Well done writer! Please share your thoughts!

Nazr e Bad Episode 27 & 28 Review – Turning Villain Into A Hero!?!

Ohkay so, I wish I could say that these two episodes of Nazr e Bad were interesting, but I don’t want to lie because they were not. I am somehow feeling cheated because they have not only slowed down the pace of the drama but have stopped making any progress in the story. All of a sudden, it looks like someone else took over as a writer & has clearly lost the plot, that is why everything that has been happening since last few weeks has no correlation to the actual story & the purpose of the drama. I really wish they pick up the pace, up their game & start giving us convincing episodes like they used to which actually kept the interest alive in the show, rather than just testing the patience of the viewers now!

To be honest, I am not understanding Maham’s nature & attitude at all. I hate the way they show us someone else in the beginning & when the episodes pass by, they turn them into completely different person & this is exactly what has been done to Maham’s character too. The way she was rejoicing at her shopping made her look so desperate & greedy as if she has never seen things like these before her marriage to Parvez, whereas it was made clear that Shafeeq & Nusrat were financially stable enough to give their children a very comfortable life, so not sure which teenager’s soul took over Maham’s body that she started acting like a child. Yes, the only good trait that Maham showed in these two episodes was where she took a stand for her mother against Almas & Humera’s bullying, this reminded me of the Maham that was introduced in the initial episodes who always stood up for herself & her family!

I am glad that the Do Muh Wala Baba got less amount of coverage in these episodes because to be honest, I dread his scenes & do not look forward to his role at all, so it was good that he wasn’t doing much this time. Yes, I did feel that he was causing troubles for Parvez while still trying to make him feel that he was wronging those who work for him, that is why Parvez looked confused half of the time!

I hate to see how they are turning Parvez, a villain into Parvez the hero. I just don’t understand what are they trying to achieve by showing Parvez as a perfect husband who can fight with his own mother for his wife? Parvez made omelette for Maham, aww how cute, like seriously, for a guy who can kill people & an unborn child without batting an eyelid, frying an omelette is not a big deal, so please!!! I really think they need to stop right there & shouldn’t even try to fix Parvez’s image because no matter what, he is someone who deserves server punishment for all that he has done till date. Whoever, in the team of Nazr e Bad has sympathy for Parvez’s character should be given a backseat & he should have no say in the future episodes because I am sure he is responsible for the drama losing its purpose!

I can’t believe that even after seeing Parvez burning a few papers, Maham didn’t question him what he was doing? Parvez made a lame excuse & Maham bought that while completely ignoring the papers that were on the floor? Also, didn’t Maham eavesdrop on Parvez & Almas & heard him say that he could make Almas listen to the entire conversation that she had with Maham again, so why didn’t Maham find it odd? I expected fireworks when Maham spotted Almas doing some magic but in stead she blew some Surahs on Parvez thinking he needs protection, like seriously? I so wish they hadn’t deprived Maham of her brains at this stage of the drama because this is the time when she needs that part to function properly to put two & two together!

Well, I am getting tired of the Jethani Devrani taunting spree now. This drama was appealing & interesting because it showed these sort of family politics & dynamics in a very different light but to see it being elaborated in such a typical manner is such a shame. Also, it was amusing that Ahmer was angry at his mother for not depending on him & not asking him for financial help, like hello, are you blind or are you not living in the same house for you to be so oblivious of the obvious that your mother is having difficulties with the household expenses. Chalo, looks like he made some promises to his mother, so let’s see if he’ll be able to walk the talk!

I found it amusing that anytime something happened or Maham thought of something, Parvez’s invisible antennas on his head picked that thing up & gave him the signals, like Maham saw Almas, so the very next day Parvez told Almas about it. Now what is he going to do? Cast some more magic on Maham to keep her deluded for the rest of her life? Parvez’s repetitive mention of how he can’t lose Maham is getting boring now. We know that you can’t afford to lose Maham because before anything, you’d resort to even powerful magic to keep that from happening!

Anyways, honestly speaking, these two episodes were boring, especially with Almas & Shazia getting way more coverage than required. I am not sure what the writer is trying to establish using Shazia’s character because she is not only useless but so desperate that she puts all the desperados like Jeena to shame. Every time I see Parvez getting a positive limelight, I feel disgusted because when this drama began & when they showed everything with so much of honesty, this was the last thing that I expected that they will eventually start showing Parvez as a hero! Sara Khan looks absolutely gorgeous but I wish her character of Maham had some sensibility & personality especially at this stage of the drama. Not too happy with how things have been unfolding lately, but still hoping that things will get better. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Nazr e Bad!

PS: Yes, this time around when Almas was trying to help Nusrat with some money, I sighed with relief when she mentioned that when they both used to share the kitchen, Nusrat would spend money to buy food for Almas’s family too. Since, there was a whole debate going on last week where the point was being made that Nusrat instigated Almas’s jealousy because she never shared the food, so I hope that settles the curiosity of some of the viewers!

Nazr e Bad Episode 25 & 26 Review – Make Some Progress!

Oh dear, I so wish I could say that this week’s episodes of Nazr e Bad were interesting because even though there were a handful of developments that were made in the story, the overall progress was next to zero & the happenings weren’t interesting to say the least. For the first time I found myself glued to my cellphone while Nazr e Bad played in the background. This definitely has nothing to do with the characters or anything like that because the characters are still strong & the essence of the drama is also the same but it looked like there was a lot of focus on nominal things which made these two episodes a bit slow & uninteresting. Make no mistake, I am still a fan of this drama, I am still looking forward to it & will definitely watch it till the end, but I want things to move forward now!!!

So, Maham has started accepting Parvez & their relationship. At first she couldn’t actually believe that she not only said yes to his proposal but she also ended up getting married to him. I thought this would serve as an eye-opener & she will get back to her old ways where she couldn’t stand the sight of Parvez but that thing changed quickly. I am not too sure how I feel about this change in Maham’s attitude where she is showing acceptance towards her marriage like it makes her look like she has no personality & is just going with the flow, whereas she was introduced as a girl who knew what she wanted & would never budge for someone. Yes, I do understand that Maham was under the influence of black magic but later when she did realize that things were odd, I wish she had maintained her stance against Parvez despite him being her husband, because that would’ve spiced things up & also, it would’ve showed that Parvez’s magic wasn’t working on her!

To be honest, I so don’t want them to show that now that Parvez has Maham in his life, he is ready to give up on everything & he wants to redeem himself because that would be too unrealistic & unjustified. Just because Parvez felt that his life was complete after getting married to Maham, he immediately decided that he was done with black magic, which made me think that the story will lose its purpose if Parvez will be forgiven in the end because this is something that shouldn’t happen. No matter what, they should at least show that Parvez had to pay the heavy price for ruining so many lives & also for being a murderer of quite a few people. I really hope they don’t show Parvez walking away scot-free just because he repented & was forgiven by all the ladies who are already drooling over him now that he has earned a few bucks because the fact still remains that he is the one who destroyed so many lives, magic or no magic!

Parvez ended up meeting this Baba in the prison, who obviously was on the same path as Parvez & looks like he knows a little more than him. To be honest, his scenes were creepy & quite scary, so after I learnt what he was going to offer, I started forwarding his scenes because I don’t want to watch all of that as it was a bit too OTT for my liking & was way too scary. I am sure that Baba also has an ulterior motive & he isn’t that much of a well-wisher of Parvez as he is posing to be at this stage because he knew that Parvez was thinking about giving up on his magic, so he made sure to talk him out of it by telling that he fixed everything & also that he empowered Parvez in such a way that he could now do things that he couldn’t even think of before!

To be honest, I hated seeing Nazr e Bad turning into Saas Bahu, Devrani Jethani, Chachi Bhateeji saga this week as these were the situations & scenes that made me lose my interest in the drama real quick. The missing wall hanging scenario was dragged for no good reason. Almas giving Nusrat a hard time & taunting her like there’s no tomorrow was another thing that was boring. Parvez & Maham’s shopping spree was least interesting too. Humera insulting Nusrat was again something that was quite boring. The preview of the next episode also suggested that from now on even Parvez will get involved in this mess & he will be taking a stand for Maham tunring Nazr e Bad into one of those typical dramas that only have gharelu politics to offer.

To be honest, at this stage this is not what I want to see, I think they should now bring the story to the point where Maham will learn the truth about Parvez. I was thinking with Parvez gone for the entire night & Almas being downstairs because of her injury, Maham had a good chance to stumble upon the things that Parvez & Almas use for their magic. This is how Abeera found out too, so why couldn’t that happen with Maham because she was looking for her Wall Hanging anyways, so it would’ve made so much of sense if Maham had spotted those weird things in Parvez’s home & had grown suspicious of his activities for starters. I really think the team has taken its sweet time in showing what Parvez & Almas are capable of, so now they really need to hurry up & show their downfall especially with Maham finding out about everything first.

I hate to say this but I don’t know why after these two episodes, I got a feeling that the writer won’t give this drama the end that we all want to see, like I don’t know why I feel that Parvez will get away with everything & he will be forgiven by the writer citing his apology as enough of an excuse to forget what he did. They are in any case highlighting Parvez’s positive side by showing him as an ideal husband who can do anything for his wife, which I am definitely not buying because while watching him, I can’t get everything that he has done out of my mind. Also, I so wish there was more to Shazia or she wasn’t there in the first place, like seriously seeing a girl drooling over a khatarnaak jadugar is puke-worthy, like have some standards gurl!!!

Yes, the only thing that made sense & was interesting in these two episode was how Jins started disturbing Parvez & made him endure some of the hardships because they were mad at him as he decided that he was giving up on everything. It was something that I found interesting as it taught Parvez that moving away from everything won’t be so easy & effortless.

Anyways, I wish they move the story forward now & start revealing the truth about Parvez as they have taken a lot of time already. I really hope before Maham falls in love with Parvez completely, she finds out who he is & what he has done, because if she will fall in love, the writer will show that she forgave Parvez for all that he has done, which I don’t want to see as this is something that ladies in our dramas with no personality whatsoever end up doing! I hope they stay true to the purpose & the essence of the story & show us the downfall of the wretched characters ASAP! Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Nazr e Bad!
