Pakistan Idol is a popular Pakistani musical reality show that recently began airing on Geo TV, Green Entertainment, and PTV Home. Previously, Season 1 of Pakistan Idol premiered on Geo TV on 6 December 2013 and continued until 24 April 2014. The current season is judged by Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood.

The show has stirred quite a bit of controversy, with people questioning the judges’ credibility. Now, renowned Pakistani singer Sajjad Ali has also criticized Pakistan Idol for repeating certain songs during the auditions.

In a press talk, Sajjad Ali said, “You must have noticed that Pakistan Idol has been repeating a few songs, which has made things monotonous. They have obtained copyrights from only a few companies, due to which their song choices are limited. The rights to our songs are not with them. Everyone wants to sing Ravi and other songs that can showcase a singer’s range, but they cannot perform them because of copyright issues. They contacted us, but we couldn’t reach a good deal.”

Social media users are sharing mixed reactions on Sajjad Ali’s mean remarks about Pakistan Idol. One user said, “They should think about Pakistan; they should give the rights.” Another wrote, “Why do we make everything so complicated and hard for the youth? The financial deal couldn’t be finalized.” One user added, “You should not criticize; the platform is giving a chance to youngsters.” Another commented, “It should not be about money; we should think of Pakistan.” A few fans sided with Sajjad Ali, saying he deserves royalty. One wrote, “He is a top-notch singer of Pakistan,” while another said, “He is always right.”
