Sajal Aly is one of the biggest stars in the Pakistani drama and film industry. She started out with Mahmoodabad Ki Malkayein and the actress has done some great projects both nationally and internationally. Sajal Aly is now known for signing the best projects with scripts that have something to say and are not just run off the mill damsel in distress stories. She has been giving hits like Aangan, Yakeen Ka Safar, Alif, Ye Dil Mera and Kuch Ankahi. She shines in the drama she picks and she picks scripts that show women in a strong light.
But dramas being made these days are mostly based on the classic saas-bahu sagas or women who have no agency of their own and will fall in love with the guy though he is a stalker and a criminal. Unfortunately, many such dramas get a lot of ratings like we just saw with Kaisi Ter Khudgarzi which was a huge hit among the masses and even went on trending in India.
We saw Mehak falling in love with her stalker at the end and Shamsher died a hero.
Sajal said that people like her and Saba Qamar have to say no to many projects as we see women falling in love with their harassers but as actors, she added we have the power to pick good roles and fight to show what is right as television has power to influence change.
