Captain of Pakistan women cricket team who has also recently completed her 100 ODIs, Sana Mir, is most likely to lose her captaincy soon. The basis of this unannounced decision of the board is her unsatisfactory performance as a captain during the World Cup. There is also a chance that Sana, the most experienced cricketer will also lose her place in the cricket team.
A source in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told local newspaper on Monday:
“As per my information, Sana will lose both captaincy and her place in the team. Bismah will be handed over reigns of team’s stewardship. She is a seasoned player and over the years has evolved into a dependable player.”
Bismah is the Pakistan’s second-most experienced player in ODIs after Sana. She was replaced by an allrounder Iram Javed during the Women’s World Cup early in the tournament due to a hand injury in a match against England.
After the seventh straight defeat in Women’s Cricket World Cup, the Pakistani team returned to the country on Monday. The board being unhappy with the team’s performance, is likely to take a decision against Sana Mir next week.
There is also a news that women team’s coach Sabih Azhar will also lose his job since the team has failed to impress during his tenure. The sources from PCB have also reported that:
“The team displayed a poor show in all the areas under him. He was not appointed coach on permanent basis. And during his short stint with the team he failed to impress,”
We wish all the decisions to be made by the Pakistan Cricket Board is for the betterment of our team.
