Sana Yousaf was a young influencer hailing from Chitral. She was just 16 years old and she lived in Islamabad where she used to make lifestyle content. Fans loved her and social media is where she was contacted by Umer Hayat who was smitten by her. He tried to approach her several times but she rejected him. This outraged Umer Hayat who went to her house and shot her dead.

Sana Yousaf’s parents have been fighting her case for a year now as they wanted to get justice for their daughter. The court in Islamabad has announced the verdict and justice was served. Umer Hayat has been sentenced to death while Sana has finally got the justice she deserved.


Sana’s mother Farzana Yousaf and father Yousaf Hassan fought this case and they have now spoken to BBC Urdu. Her mother revealed that she was worried about facing her daughter after death if she did not get her justice. Her father said that they fought this case for all the girls who face oppression in society. Sana’s mother never saw the criminal in court as she could not look at him. They never stopped their daughter from her ambitions and always supported her. Sana wanted to become a doctor and she was pursuing this passion. They also revealed how they always protected her and she never went anywhere alone. Her uncle always accompanied her.
